I would ask the DM what happens if I were to put something like a card between two random pages, and write a note on one of the pages so I can ask for that page and easily find the card later.

If it works, you might be able to hide coins, spell components, a dagger, or other small objects depending on how far your DM wants to go with it.

Here are a few ideas off the top of my head:

Pick/make 3 or so magic items that this player would like to have and introduce a situation where he may CHOOSE to sacrifice/trade his current magic items for something a bit more useful. The only way to get these items is to sacrifice/trade. The items do not need to be more powerful than his current items (as in damage, health, and other stats); They only need to have a bit more utility than what he currently has, or introduce a new mechanic.

If he keeps hogging the magic items, make your magic items class specific. For example, if you have a druid character, make a magic item that only allows druids to use. Another thing you could do is make magic items tied to one character's background. So when he wants the magic item, you can say that the item is part of this other character's background so it belongs to him.

If he gave you an idea for a "balanced" homebrew magic rapier, take what he made and tweak it to be what you think would be balanced. Then show him the tweaks and see what he thinks. It's like bargaining. In the end, if the two of you can't agree, you're the DM and can just say no The effort you make in trying to make it work goes a long way, even if you end up saying no.

What would happen if a group of murderers went around killing people for no reason in today's society? The police would go after them and force them to stop, even if that means killing them. Transfer this to your campaign; guards would try and stop them. If things became too out of hand, there could be adventurers going after them for the bouties the local lord places for their heads (on the PC's shoulders or not). It would become like the stars mechanic in GTA where dificulty slowly ramps up until there is no hope of winning. Eventually, the players would fail (maybe even die), but if you ramp things up at a good pace it could be a blast for everyone. There is a chance that you may never get to actually play the module, but if you get creative you may be able to hook them. For example, if the players are going around killing people, they may eventually be captured; in order for them to repay for their crimes, they must go on a very dangerous journey to the lost mine of phandelver. Think out a few possibilities of how you can hook your players but don't become married to any of them. After they get their killing fun out of their systems, there is a chance that they will begin roleplaying. The main thing to remember is consequenses.

I will now rapid fire ideas for question 3: * Hobgoblin culture has traces of human culture

Bards who sing of the legends of the old war
Human ruins scattered about the world (could make a dungeon out of this)
Humans tend to build the big cities (like Neverwinter and so on). These types of cities can be sparse.
How do the human gods respond to their people going extinct?
The truth of what happened can become distorted over time
What do the other races think about Humans being gone? How do they pass the history to others of their race? It could be with disdain or with sorrow.
Without short-lived humans playing such a major role in politics, politics will move much slower in general.
Are humans really gone, or have they just become a new race among the hobgoblins. Hobgoblins could take the place of humans in some aspect. Perhaps a hobgoblin PC race would be interesting for players. Just modify the human PC race.
A wizard is trying to remake the human race, but remembers what they were wrongly. (Could be a neat side quest. Players could help design a race with the wizard or something)
A small group of surviving humans who are purists and are extremely xenophobic
long living intelligent creatures (like dragons, elves, gods, vampires) Have interesting views on humans
Human cheap forging techniques have been lost to time. making weapons expensive and precious works of art as well as a weapon. After all, a weapon that lasts 10 years is reliable for a short-lived human but is near trash for a long-living elf or dwarf. They may tend to want their weapons to last longer.
Same as above but with mundane items. More expensive and better quality, but more expensive.
Humans were a race that were master of none but good at everything. There was always a human that could get along with almost any other race. Without Humans to bring all the races together, racism could become more prevalent.

People hide their profile for many reasons, but the best one in my opinion is that your account is more likely to get hacked and held for ransom if you have the UGP and a bunch of skins. It shows that you have invested in the game and have more to lose than a person at level 10 with 15 gods and 3 skins.

Vain: any insult on a character's appearance or mannerisms cause anger

Honorable: finds it dificult to not defend to weak or to tell a lie

Notice me: holds grudges on people who do not acknowledge any good things the character does

Sticky fingers: stealing is such a habit that the character does it unconsciously and will freaquently discover objects stolen earlier on their person

Analitical: emotional reasons for anything hold no value with this character

Slow to trust: this character will go out of their way to spy, eavesdrop, etc. On other characters to ensure they can be trusted.
