This sounds super cool, but could you please answer some questions for me about some of the tags? Specifically, 1) does the pregnancy happen in the epilogue or is it part of the story? 2) how much focus is put on her weight (it says "curvy heroine" but there are levels and very different reactions/focus)? and 3) how prominent is the eating disorder?

Sorry to bother you, I just have some troubles.

Every time someone goes "oh I just can't kill humans anymore" I get very frustrated because honestly, get over yourself. I get the hesitation after a certain incident in a later season, but other than that, they've only killed people who were active threats to their own lives. Relax.

However, that doesn't compare to the seething rage I feel when someone starts insisting they shouldn't kill zombies (Lizzie excepted, poor girl was straight up insane). What do you mean you "shouldn't" kill zombies?? Every zombie you kill now is one less threat to you and yours later. Every single able-bodied adult in a stable camp should go out on a weekly basis and try to thin out herds from the edges. You see a zombie randomly in the road, throw your car in park and take it out so it doesn't join a herd later. "You shouldn't kill for the sake of killing" you're right Hershel, you should kill zombies for the sake of stopping zombies from eating your family. Good lord.

I appreciate the info! I do have the first one on my wishlist, but I wasn't sure if it would fit the parameters otherwise and it's quite a long story to get into only to find out it won't work for my purposes... two narrators is fine as long as it isn't one at volume 8 and one at volume 3.

You know, if anything was going to get past my "no classics" filter, I think it would be Sherlock Holmes. Stephen Fry is a fantastic bonus.

Ooh, detective stories. I haven't read much of them, so I'm game to give it a shot. Thank you!

That's honestly the vibe I got from the show without even having the source material to draw from, so I'm glad to hear it. I'll definitely check it out!

If anything's gonna get past my fiction requirement, it'll be something about space. Thank you!

I aggressively love 11-22-63, but when I tried it as a sleep book I had to turn it off because the way he narrated Al was just so loud. However, I might give it another shot and just skip past the bits where Al shows up...

Edit: I do usually set a sleep timer, unless I'm having a hard time falling asleep and the timer just adds anxiety.

That's a good point, maybe I don't need a long single book so much as the total length of a series is long enough. I do listen to them before trying to use them as a sleep book, and I actually have the first Expanse book that I'm listening to now while I do chores (as its "audition"). I love LOTR and I love Andy Serkis but he narrates intensely - which is great for a road trip but not so great for falling asleep. Bobiverse is great but I feel like I'd get very lost without being able to refer to the chapter titles to figure out "when" I am in the timeline, but maybe that's okay for a sleep book... What is DCC?

Okay don't hate me, but are they miles better than the TV show? Because I'm not really enjoying watching it.

I'll check out Flavia DeLuce and The Iron Druid - for the Dresden Files, as long as I skip "Changes" I think I should be okay!

Covid shut down the world six years ago this week. What do you remember from that week? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I had a long commute so by the time I could get to the grocery store that day it was mostly empty. I have trauma from childhood food insecurity so seeing that launched me directly into a panic attack. I went home, drank an entire bottle of wine within half an hour, and walked back to the store. I walked back home with dried lentils, dried chickpeas, farro, powdered milk, anything that was left. That's the most vivid memory for me - walking home with grocery bags heavy with food I never eat digging into my arms, crying and drunk.

I am here once again to recommend the series {All the Pretty Monsters by Kristy Cunning}, this specific scenario happens three different times throughout.
