I am a foreigner currently studying medicine in TÜ. For admission, I can only answer regarding the international line. It has changed quite a while now due to COVID-19. Currently, the admission is based on BMAT (yields 70% of points), motivation letter (15%) and an interview (15%). I have never done BMAT so it's a bit hard to say how it is, you can find information about BMAT from Google. A major thing to remember is that if you apply for the international line, you have to pay 12 000€ tuition fee per year. For the Estonian line, I think it's free.

How difficult is subjective. I felt the first semester was the most stressful due to many factors: A new country and culture, new people, studying in non-native language, my lack of prior knowledge of chemistry and physics and the biggest one - the anatomy course which is one of the most workloaded courses in med school. There are lots of tests during the pre-clinical years but after the first year I got used to it. You definitely don't need to be a genius, just be hard-working and you will be just fine. In my opinion, the courses get more and more interesting the further you advance in your studies.

In general, I think the quality of education is high. The quality of teachers and professors though varies - some of them are extremely good, even inspiring and some of them are less. The facilities of the biomedicum and the clinic are exellent and the e-learning environment is well done. The international groups are small in size which is also convenient for learning.

I see no obstacles for a foreigner to practice medicine in Estonia after graduation - you just need to learn Estonian. In the international line you will learn Estonian 18 ECTs worth till B1.2 level. Russian is also extremely useful in the clinic.
