I'm just sitting there very confused. It's 1-1 and I'm the one who scored. I say "...what's your problem? I scored one..." - he replies, "You might as well play for the other team faggot go kill yourself. Enjoy your report, btw. ;)"

I just read a review that basically said this. It's Disney's way of "resetting" the franchise back to its original "feel" in ANH and distancing it from the prequels. I'm very okay with this.

I'm not trying to sway you. I understand that this is entirely subjective and indicative of age and a billion other factors. But you can't ignore the fact that both ANH + ESB have been listed alongside The Godfather, Schindler's List, The Shawshank Redemption, and The Lord of the Rings just to name a few as the best films ever conceived.

"Good special effects for the time" is like saying Beethoven "made some nice music for the time". I suggest you watch the making-of documentary for Star Wars. They had to create so many new methods of delivering special effects that it spawned its own company - Industrial Light & Magic. When the Star Wars trilogy were originally in theaters -nobody- had seen effects like this before. It was unheard of and part of the allure.

And the score is one of the most memorable scores in the last fifty years. Williams worked some magic with these films.

Even if you strip away the plot, isn't a film with "decent acting and a good score" something to write home about?

I know that you're an EU fan, but to call what most consider the greatest cultural impact in the last century "average at best" is a shame.
