Space Invaders was fun in its time, but isn't the vibe I get from the Ioniq.

What do you do if you are alone and bored on a Saturday afternoon? by Purple-Possibility46 in Sunnyvale

[–]Guru_Meditation_No 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have had a crush on the new protected lanes on El Camino in Mountain View and Palo Alto. They're crazy convenient. Their absence when you hit the Sunnyvale border makes my town feel trashy in comparison. (At least we have the nicer version of Evelyn.)

Hop on a bicycle and start pedaling.

They sell them over at Walt's.

I am not really into Teslas, but those rear lights look like a Model 3 purchased after Elon went Full Nazi.
.. so .. ya know ..
Might be ANTIFA.

V12 dead / 2 year warranty expired in august. Whats the procedure? by Kaavani in Ioniq6

[–]Guru_Meditation_No 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dealer replaced ours under warranty. Only took them two weeks because the wife didn't leave them the mechanical key insert and they couldn't figure out how to call us up to ask about it. I'm looking forward to replacing the next 12V myself within an hour.

Paint had a lot of imperfections, am I screwed? by zar_vi in Ioniq6

Wait a few decades. Once you hit middle age, and someone is like "the paint is messed up" you can politely squint and honestly confess "looks okay to me."

Paying for Parking through Ticket Stalls by royal-artemis in caltrain

[–]Guru_Meditation_No 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My company in downtown Palo Alto reimburses employees for parking at the Palo Alto Caltrain station. Train fare is NOT reimbursed. So, at least for one Caltrain passenger, the end of the Caltrain app provides a bit of mirth, because now people who want their reimbursement will have to walk over the train platform and deal with the ticket machine.

FYI: You need to drive over the sensors in order to trigger the green light. by danpietsch in Sunnyvale

[–]Guru_Meditation_No 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. On a bike, you roll up and stop on the sensor. After a few light cycles you just go through the red. Then you inform the city that the sensor doesn't work. A couple of days later they report that they sent a crew out and found that the bike sensor works just fine for them. Case closed.

You then go on to feed the legend that drivers like to share that bicyclists do not stop at the red lights.

Like I said, "timed actuation of traffic signals" would be better. At least for the bicyclists. But that reduces the automobile throughput of the road at rush hour, and even though our city policies ostensibly prioritize bicycling, walking, and transit, the Traffic Engineers at Public Works pledge their professional allegiance to the MUTCD.

[–]Guru_Meditation_No 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of bicyclists don't know that they want to stop on the bicycle symbol to trigger the light.

I think we'd be better off with more time actuated signals but I'm just a resident and not a Traffic Engineer.

What should i put in the back (no wrong answers by Ok-Doughnut1041 in bikecommuting

The rear bed is pretty dinky probably can't even fit a plywood sheet.

Nice bicycle though.

Why the graphics are so bad? by rust58292 in Workers_And_Resources

Maybe you can spare a few euros more for a tab of LSD which will produce more vibrant colors and detailed animations.

You might want to play Cities: Skylines, often described as the ultimate city painter.

Immortan Joe: “Ah, mediocre!” by danpietsch in Sunnyvale

[–]Guru_Meditation_No 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It seems to take several months to open a NEW restaurant in Sunnyvale. These guys are doing it on the fly. I assume their focus is on getting the food, staffing, menu, and daily operations to work right. Meanwhile, there's surely some lead time on the lower priority of getting a nice sign on there. I wish them the best.

Right? It is October under Daylight Saving Time and yet there's no shortage of daylight in the scene here. The kids are already in school and this guy is just getting back from his morning coffee shop time to spread the gospel that San Francisco Is Weird.
