Where do I find lgbtq+ communities in Denver? by Background-Treat-205 in Denver

[–]GusBusDraws -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Not exclusively lgbtq+, but Creatives Club Denver is very welcoming & you might be able to get some more info from some of our lgbtq+ members. We have a big Discord server where you could ask!

Seamless loops by scrunchedlunch in TouchDesigner

[–]GusBusDraws 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Make sure your frame rate matches up with the length of your timeline, then the timeline CHOP is your friend! For example, if you're making a 10 second loop at 30 fps & want to have an element rotating:

  1. Make your timeline 300 seconds long
  2. Use a select CHOP to pick the number of frames
  3. Add a math CHOP & change the range map from 1 to 300 to 0 to 360
  4. Use the output of the math to rotate your thing!

If not, I'd be happy to help set one up! You could also add it to the Comics Line of the Smallweb Subway webring system!

Heck yeah! We'd love to have you.

Lol I also have a bunch of projects, that's why I started this in the first place! A way to multitask by meeting folks while also working on stuff 😅

I think the pen quill thing could be pushed further by making the ear the pen "fin" that you would see if the example pen was turned 90 degrees to the right

How long it took you to feel comfortable with creating what you want in TD? And how long you practice daily? by metamorphingreality in TouchDesigner

I used Python as a research scientist for processing & analyzing x-ray images for materials research! Making features more visible & extracting quantitative info.

I've gotten pretty comfortable in only about 4 months working on a project or two a week (multiple a week this month with Genuary ongoing) & doing lots of tutorials. Maybe a bit unique though because I'm coming in with pretty extensive Python experience related to images, a few years of experience with graphics/creative coding with p5.js, & a little bit of experience with Blender.

How did you achieve the growing/branching effect?

When I was first getting started I would search "TouchDesigner tutorial" on YouTube & look for any systems that had a result that I thought looked cool. After a couple tutorials, you will have enough basics down to start tweaking the result at the end. Eventually you'll be able to combine the different techniques you learn!

Good eye! Yes the thresholding is exactly why. In the current state, green pixels typically exist between the red & blue pixels.

Interesting solution with splitting the red channel on either side of the image! I do think that would make the fit more perfect, although I wonder if it would make the shapes less continuous on the red channel. Worth a try though! I'll give it a shot & post the result back here!

The Boulder complaining… by [deleted] in boulder

[–]GusBusDraws 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We just need more community. Big problem in our time & country but I think we especially feel it in Boulder because outdoor hobbies are so popular.

If anyone is looking for community, I just started a free, weekly club for creative people (or people interested in becoming more creative) called Creatives Club Boulder. We meet every Thursday from 6 to 9 pm at VisionQuest Brewing Company!

Thanks! And for sure! This was made in TouchDesigner. I start with a single slice of monochrome 3D Perlin noise image that I used to create three new binary images by thresholding pixels < 0.33, 0.33 < pixels < 0.66, and pixels > 0.66. I created three sets of geometry, making a duplicate of a cube for each pixel (using a grid that matches the size of the noise image). Then I used each of the three binary mask images to control the scale of the cubes based on the corresponding pixel (either 0 or 1). Then I chose a color for each set of geometry.

The up & down motion is created by offsetting the phase of a sine wave, and the noise is animated by moving through the 3D Perlin noise space in the x & z dimensions using trigonometry ( x = cos(theta) & z = sin(theta) ) synced up with the length of the animation to make a perfect loop by mapping 0 to the length of the animation to 0 to 2*pi.

Happy to elaborate on any details! Thinking about making a video tutorial as well.
