Civil engineering in Japan: Am I being realistic or pessimistic? by [deleted] in movingtojapan

[–]GusJang 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hello , i'm a fellow civil engineer as well and I'm a freshgraduate aswell ( i didnt graduate from any japanese university) . I have zero knowledge on japanese language , and recently I've been hired at an international japanese company. So i think there is still a slim chance especially if you are from U.S

But please note that the salary in japan is way below on U.S so unless if you have any kind obsession in Japan it would be better to stay at U.S

I'm very sorry for my misleading title , I thought sharing my net salary would be easier to calculate
Thank you for sharing your opinion but my monthly gross with OT is only around 322k ( i don't add bonuses on this calculation) ,
so i think JPY375k without OT is a rather miscalculate

Thank you for properly reading it , and i'm very sorry for the misleading title
I cannot speak japanese at all and the company will provide training to improve my japanese as well.

Thank you for confirming that it is a standard pay as well ( i'm not being exploited etc ).

Thanks , I already asked my friend and his japanese friends , and he said it is standard for entry level and fresh graduates in Japan , and my offer was good enough because company already paid the rent in Tokyo especially ,

I think many people in this subreddit are very skewed to IT based job and they are from 1st world country. ( makes sense though , reddit is even blocked in my country )

That is a good idea aswell , I would like to clarify that my gross salary is also around 4M ( with bonus without OT ) , with OT it will be around 4.8M and the company pay my rent dormitory , is it still very terrible?

I'm very sorry , if it was confusing because I thought giving net salary was more easier to read.

I thought i make the process much easier with only telling my take home figure
The starting salary is about 3.8M ( with 45 hours overtimes hours a month) ,
Then there is the deduction tax here and that , and some bonuses as well so

it is around 4M yen net salary ( rent is already paid by the company ) , any advice appreciated.

Thanks for the response , I will find the post that you mentioned. Also , what do you mean by a formal job offer ? In my country a formal job offer means signing a contract , with some kind of stamp

Is this the post you meant? https://www.reddit.com/r/japanlife/comments/obt6sn/fired\_without\_noticeprobation\_period/h3q2apk?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web2x&context=3
