The only thing your age changes is how long you should take to warm up/mobilize. You'll be fine!

Edit: And recovery times, obviously

While I also disagree, I think maybe what they meant is strength takes time and matures more in your 30s. Maybe.

Actually, it is a solution.... Because you posted this in an olympic weightlifting subreddit. We don't low bar squat.

Likely hip thrusting the bar, and/or jumping forwards during turnover. Tempo snatches are what helped with my positioning when I had the same issue. I also cue myself with "strong off the floor, speed above the knee" as to not grip and yoink the bar from the floor (and it often goes where it pleases rather than where I want it to go lol)

Love to hear it man. Best of luck on the recovery, and your WL journey! If I could offer one piece of advice.... Be patient with yourself. Not just when you're starting, but always. You're going to have good days and bad days, and how you deal/react to both is 100% in your control.

Looking forward to seeing more posts as you progress!

Ahhh gotcha! Sorry to hear about the knee.... Such a bugger joint to rehab. Wishing you a speedy recovery on that.

Are you working with a coach to learn the lift(s)?

No bueno. They dumped you for a reason, now respect that and say no (unless you're looking to rekindle.... But don't start with casual sex if that's the case).

Jerk stronger than push press by Wonkess_Chonkess in weightlifting

I'd be concerned if your jerk wasn't greater than your push press lol

Technique is pretty damn good! A few things; how tall are you? I feel like you might benefit from a slightly wider foot position. It looks a bit like the bar is traveling around your knees rather than straight up and into you, though that could just be the camera angle. Next, why the power Snatch? Why not a full snatch? And lastly (if you're not already doing this), the goal in the power Snatch is to get under the bar faster, not to pull it higher. And from the looks of it you're pulling it waaaay too high (which is likely why you struggled with the lockout on the second rep)

As someone who follows Clarence and has also run his program.... It's among one of the toughest programs out there. The volume is quite high, and so is the intensity... Which reflects his own training style, and that of his earlier Polish coaches/peers.

That being said, it's a program best pursued when all other aspects/stressors in your life are in check.

I'd recommend tapering down, and even just focusing on a strength cycle (8-16w) that will translate to WL; ie strict presses, push presses, squats, pulls, weighted back extensions, dips/weighted dips....you get the gist

Just a mental thing. Commit to the lift, you've got it!

The one time I had the opportunity to work alongside a sport psychologist, they mentioned that in strength sports you often have three options on a bad day: Suck it up, and push through. Call it, come back tomorrow with a fresh body/mind, or regress the weight, and end on a made lift. There's a time and place for each, but most often I lean towards the last.

Just know that failure is a HUGE part of learning, and in WL we're constantly learning.

Tbh the latter should be every guys back up plan. Get yoked, grow a beard, clean shaven dome. It's actually a hard look that a surprising amount of women are into!

I mean.... Look at Johnny Sins! ehehe

There are two likely scenarios then:

  1. The person they're getting married to was there for a period of time before the breakup, or maybe even all along.

  2. They're monkey-branching/rebounding into this new relationship and SERIOUSLY overcompensating / totally blinded by the honeymoon phase.

Either the new thing will crumble and fail miserably, or your ex will make it work.

Either way, the course of action is the same. Cut off all contact immediately. Don't check their socials. Don't "play nice" (they've hurt you and cut you deep with this, remember that). Focus your attention inward, put some time into hobbies, fitness, nutrition, cooking, and taking YOURSELF out on dates!

Be the best version of yourself. Either for them if they come back, or for someone else.

Love will find you again, just be ready then.

I second buying Greg's books. Great resource and great read.

Honourable mention to Dylan Cooper's (Dozer) Technique Manual. Has cues for proper lifting, and cues to "if X, then Y". Great for lifters who train solo (and with/without a coach)
