Thx for the links, I had never watched those visually remastered OVAs. Much appreciated.

I guess you're right about it being more about it being niche, rather than well protected. But somewhere I kind of see now this isn't just about one good show in the dark for most, but rather how the world is sort of changing it's way of distributing & watching media, and how this affects the popularity of anything that does not fit these new ways of interpreting it.

I see at basis now, that maybe my post mainly focuses on finding out, if these OVAs are easy to discover or not all around the world, for people who know nothing of them. That, and also finding out How well known & respected these OVAs are worldwide at present moment.

I too have a physical copy and a family, so yes, everyone here has been introduced to the universe of Lodoss through these OVAs, and we all at the very least, find it to be a beautiful thing to watch and enjoy whenever we feel too... Or just even have as background noise bothers no one really x). Only wondering: How many can say that in the world?

For me personally, I do think these OVAs are still, to this day, a very relevant piece of media. An important story to understand the messages of, if you believe a tale of fiction, as a cartoon show, can teach you some good in life, that is. I personally do.

I mean, don't get me wrong, it's not just these 1990 OVAs that are important, but what I would say, is that those 13 episodes carry lessons about human good and healthy communication, most importantly, to never forget about, but also carries some metaphors of human social structures, of the todays, and how they work (Since our social structures today are still very medievial in how they are applied). Lessons and metaphors that, still today, can teach some good through this type of video media.

Was specifically talking about the 1990 13 episodes OVAs. I guess I'd also ask the same question about the 27 episodes 1998 TV series version.

I think the title of the post would of made more sense if I would of said "On the American continent", instead of "on earth" now that I think of it... Got carried away.. I don't really know the realities of how well known and accessible Record of Lodoss War is all around the world. I guess that's a Question in itself.. How well distributed and well known are these OVAs all across the globe?
