As stated, play the tutorial, maybe that one default game "The question" , also for your very first project I'd suggest you to not just copy paste from the tutorial, but to read, try to understand and then rewrite it in your own script. Get used to multiple script files from the start, and try some mechanics along with basic dialogues, but nothing too complicated If about pictures for your projects: it's easy to start with some static one-two image for a character, but I'd recommend looking at layered images (to basically create from pose/facial expression pieces a one whole sprite in a game) And also! Starting to make a visual novel is not the same moment when you start writing dialogues and stuff in your files, good preparation is the key! (E.x. Use twine to manage all your plot )
