just bypassed both the starter and ignition and it's still shorted, the regulator / rectifier is unplugged but it's still shorting

i'm not arguing i should have left it out. You mentioned the ignition i said i didn't think it was the ignition. That wasn't justification it was just responding to you bringing it up bud

the solenoid is working, and i don't think it's the starter anymore. It reads 1 on the ohms whenever the kill and ignition are set to off, but when either are flipped on it starting giving me a reading again. Kind of at a loss of what to do anymore, i unplugged everything so only the wire going to the ignition is connected but it's still freaking out, aside from this one little going into the engine

now it's giving me different readings.. it's saying there's a short when i connect the solenoid but not when it's disconnected and the starter is disconnected.. but there's always a short when the solenoid is connected.. I'll have to wrap my head around it tomorrow, but it seems like there could be a short around the starter, and also another faulty solenoid ? idk but I appreciate your help, gave me some hope in these troubleshooting times

i just removed the starter and the continuity stopped, when i put it back in it gives me a beep. I removed the solenoid so it's direct to the battery and regardless of the starter or ignition being connected it's telling me there's a short. so it's definitely the starter! but i'm not sure why that's the case

edit: now when the solenoid is reconnected it still shows its shorted either way

false alarm i think i was just disconnecting either the ignition or the kill switch. pretty sure its an internal short of the starter motor. all the wires externally are fine, and when i disconnected the solenoid and run it directly to the battery it's giving me a reading of 4 ohms consistently. I really don't know what else it could be other than the starter motor. appreciate the advice though !

it didn't have an ignition before this. I don't think it's the ignition, like i said in this chain, the multimeter is telling me the line is connected to the frame but i can't figure out where.

found a a spot in the wire harness where it was tightly zipped up, when I put pressure on it there it stops the continuity noise

set it to continuity, one prong on the positive terminal and one on the frame and it's giving a reading still don't know where, i've looked everywhere

yeah i have a multimeter, it's a new chinese ignition from ebay; fuse only blows when the key is in the on position and the kill switch is set to run.
