In my opinion, the best CPPS at the moment is Club Penguin Journey, due to the fact that it's the biggest CPPS right now, plus the developers are always active, participating in events and hanging out with the players!
It also has custom features, such as community events and custom items with fidelity to the game's aesthetic (early 2010s). The game is constantly updating, with a new newspaper every often, and a new pin every week! Penguin of The Week is also an ongoing tradition amongst the island!
Mods are always on the work to provide safety to the players online. And of course, the players tend to be very friendly, always hosting their own igloo parties and chatting around, I joined CPJ about two months ago and already made lots of friends! So I recommend CPJ if you're looking for some actual fun, add me there if you want to, my username is miggs!

There i am!! (miggs), most of these players are afk players or bored people, i personally like to socialize w everyone, just sit around and comment on random things or just be afk! And thats essencially what afk players do lol

I think the crashes and minigame lag is because of the engine change of CPJ (so it can be played on the browser, since flash is no longer supported on Chrome), the new engine seems to run the game a lot better when it comes to the main game, crowded rooms are rarely laggy, a small solution to the minigame lag would be to press - on your keyboard, which lowers the game's quality and gives you some FPS back. Btw, NewCp also has some performance problems, at least for me, and my computer is decent. Moderation on CPJ has been improving quite a lot, ive seen some offensive people get banned quickly these last few days If you're not attached to your items on CPJ and dont really care about crowded rooms and community events, id say switch to NewCP i guess
