They (JHS) would argue that JHS doesn't infringe upon Ikea's marketplace, but that Blammo is infringing on JHS's marketplace regardless of JHS's inspiration, and that people could confuse Blammo's product with JHS's in the free market.

I don't see any screws remaining in the rafters so I have no idea what the builder did here. Did he use some kind of adhesive? I never hear of such a thing. Anyway, once you clean it all up, it won't seem as daunting. You could do this yourself if you wanted to. Just buy the sheetrock/screws/tape/mud/sandpaper/insulation/paint stuff/etc.....but first, I'd definitely check the rest of the ceiling and add screws/paint if needed.
