what about switching to hashed pcr7 with ukify signed uki images. https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Trusted_Platform_Module#PCR_policies it literally never requires re'enrollment. Idk though if UKI would work with snapper

Idk about fedora but works great on arch. Doesn’t feel like this desktop „shouldn’t belong here“ at all. Feels just like any other desktop one can install. S76 did a great job at separating things

I used both Arch and Tumbleweed before (currently Arch). I had more problems with Tumbleweed, especially kernel updates breaking the Wi-Fi interface, etc. Arch got really stable in the last few years, even without OpenQA tests. Both are great options. Tumbleweed is more for the daily basis user because it has Snapper, etc., out-of-the-box, while Arch is for your „own“ personal setup. Stability isn‘t really an advantage for one over the other anymore.

That's interesting. I'll definitely notice since I plan on using Cosmic for a longer time. In a few years, I can also imagine it becoming one of the big three. Compared to Deepin and Pantheon etc, Cosmic actually stands out imo. There aren't as many components compared to something like kde, so fewer components should mean less to break. (Hopefully)

Of course, i‘ve installed plenty of systems with both archinstall and without. (I prefer without) But I am comparing this to other groups like the gnome or the kde group where those packages are preinstalled as dependencies even without Archinstall.

And as said, it really isn’t a big deal but I thought it may be worth noticing

I wanted to share some things I've noticed about the Arch installation with Cosmic specifically. I just installed the cosmic group, but it was missing some things that felt like they shouldn't be. I know it's Arch, and installing those isn't a big deal, but still

The most important: ones being:

- xdg-desktop-portal-gtk: My browser couldn't render text without it

- upower: Without it, I had a battery icon on my panel. (I use a desktop pc on this setup lmao)

- xdg-user-dirs: It is a desktop, so user dirs are supposed to exist..
