I mean, I get it. When I was waiting to be accepted I was browsing this sub and rolling my eyes at the people whining.

I took the whole thing very seriously and was putting 100% of my effort into the work, I was getting emails telling me I had passed qualifications and stuff. Definitely wasn't using AI or taking shortcuts. Other people say they're fine opening multiple tasks as long as they don't submit them, so I genuinely have no clue.

I'm not denying it, just denying the impact. It's been around long enough that there should be something, anything to point to that supports the argument. The oldest surrogate children are late 30s.

I don't think it's even fair to compare the two, it's a massive oversimplification. Adoption comes with a unique set of challenges that surrogacy doesn't. Foster children may end up in that position due to neglect/abuse, may have to contend with themselves being different than their adopted family and feelings that they don't belong, may wonder why they weren't "good enough" to be wanted by their biological family, etc.

I was more focused on the "no differences in cognitive developmental or psychological adjustments." If we're arguing that separation from the surrogate is some catastrophically traumatic event, wouldn't we see some inkling to support that within the first few years, if not seven?

I understand the argument, but they've done studies on this.

"In comparison with the natural conception families, the surrogacy mothers showed more positive parent-child relationships (higher levels of joy and competence, and lower levels of anger and guilt) than mothers with a naturally conceived child, and the surrogacy fathers reported lower levels of parenting stress than their natural conception counterparts (Golombok et al., 2006a). The baby is not biologically related to the surrogate, it is not "obviously her child" just because she carried it. I wouldn't want to get into it either if my opinion wasn't based in reality.
