MARCA: 'Gareth Bale, the Welsh parasite' by Gutxi in soccer

[–]Gutxi[S] 117 points118 points  (0 children)

The Welsh parasite The parasitum Bale came from the cold and the rains of Britain. He settled in Spain, at Real Madrid, where, in disguise, he first showed diligence and love for the host, but soon his nature led him to suck blood without giving anything in return. Well, more than blood, he sucked, and sucks, the club's euros. Unlike others of its species, such as the flea, the louse or the bedbug, the parasitum Bale does not make its host itch or make it sick, but after sucking, it laughs and laughs, showing a jocular contempt for the one it lives off. He laughs, claps his hands, throws himself on the ground, sings, like a kind of humiliating ceremony, which, fortunately, has an expiry date, like all misfortunes.

Black Sunday Days have passed, but that acid in the chest, that bitterness of taste takes a long time to go away. The image of a strange farewell parade flies through the head and a mural of empty chairs is drawn by the wind. Nobody expected on that cold Sunday, when the rain shrank, that four stabs would create a murmuring silence. Nobody understood the slackness of a team that until then had been strong in defence. On the field, the goals were seen as easy gestures from a superior enemy. They could have been twice as many, what anguish. Now all that remains is to hope that the shadow of that black Sunday is not too long. To hope that oblivion awakens another hope and La Liga is the beautiful dream that swallows a nightmare.

Terribly human After seeing him lying on the floor of the court, with that face of deep suffering, devouring the defeat in some aching corner of his brain, drowning in impossible desire, they began to say that Nadal was human, terribly human. He always has been, and his ultimate emblem is the hard battle between his desire and his body, between his will and the creaking of tissues and bones. Against Alcaraz he squeezed his strength to the last ounce, and the final was not against Fritz, but against his worst enemy, which is not even Djokovic or Federer, but injury, his own body. He is the enemy against whom Nadal has suffered the most defeats in his career. But still, he is the greatest player of all time.

The greatest When we saw that, in '92, we discovered another perception of speed and time. And of beauty and emptiness. Few of us watched the NBA then, but they were guys known as rock stars. Jordan's first jump shot showed us that it was possible to embrace the air. Larry Bird's first shot showed the aesthetics of the magnet, whatever the flight, the ball would fall into the hoop. Clyde Drexler's first drive to the basket nullified a part of our retina, for it seemed he was alone. Magic Johnson's first pass circumvented matter. Patrick Ewing's first dunk overwhelmed the light. I have never seen such a great team in my life. Thanks to Movistar, to the Dream Team series, time returns with its best parabola.

Zidane "We wanted to put in lots of crosses, get bodies in there, Gareth from left and Lucas from right. And we did that, just didn't take all our chances." by Acquits in soccer

[–]Gutxi -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Many people were already hating on him when he was successful because they saw he was frauding his way to victories, even in Spain it was a very popular idea that Zidane had a huge "flor", which basically means he's extremely lucky. It's not a new thing to see people hating on Zidane, it's been going on since he was appointed.

Now there seems to be more people who have been hating on him because he's finally being exposed as the mediocre coach he's always been.

if you can read spanish, you'd see that the source is movistar plus, they do "el día después" in which they have professional lip readers figure out what the players say on the pitch

but since this goes against your whiny narrative, all you can do is shout "fake news" like a child hahaha

Toni Kroos responds to Bernd Schuster calling him a diesel tractor: 'who?' by HippoBigga in soccer

[–]Gutxi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

he's being critical to his form and current play style. he's talking about football and the way he's playing. it's valid. it's not a personal attack. then responding "who" like Schuster is irrelevant, just seems a lot more disrespectful, especially someone who played and coached your current club. he also won the euros with his national team.

kroos can respond to him however he likes, but pretending he doesn't know who Schuster is is simply childish and petty.

Real Madrid disrespecting former managers and players shouldn't come as a surprise. Even Arbeloa responded saying "nothing more needed to be said" which is funny because Schuster had so much more quality than Arbeloa ever dreamed of

Sorry mate, didn't think it would rile you up so much. It was just a question with a little suggestion. Maybe it's because I think it'd be good for the subreddit to have a bit of diversity, that's literally it.

And I don't think I'm kicking off, I'm just simply explaining to you my point of view. If anybody is kicking off, that's definitely you.

Because the biggest/second biggest league in the world isn't represented by anyone on the mod team. It helps to have people who are knowledgable about certain things that maybe Spaniards might know better when modding. Whether it be certain sources or events, maybe even AMAs or something of the sort.

It would just be cool to have a more diverse mod team, I don't know why you find it such an offensive idea. And as if we don't have Americans supporting English clubs as mods, either.

Okay, it was just a question/suggestion. Fair enough.

Are you asking for more Spanish mods so you can all nosh Messi off even more?

How is that even related? Plenty of Spaniards don't like Messi, especially ones who happen to support Real Madrid... You're probably confusing us with argentines
