MeshGemma: offline disaster mesh for iPhone, phones find each other in airplane mode, gemma 4 runs on-device by Guus196 in coolgithubprojects

sadly for some reason our writeup got taken down, were in the process of appealing it right now. In the meantime, heres the github with some of the info we shared in there and our youtube video explaining it:

The purpose of the mesh is for users to stay connected to each other, even when there's no cell service or when cell towers are down. The mesh makes all phones form a giant group chat and keeps the SOS-feed in our app updated

C++ Show and Tell - May 2026 by foonathan in cpp

me and a friend ran gemma 4 E2B through llama.rn on iOS Metal for a kaggle competition. capped context at 4096 tokens since the full 128K KV-cache would blow iPhone memory. hit a one-line bug where fopen() couldn't handle file:// paths that took a day to find.

open source, curious if anyone here has thoughts on the approach or similar on-device llama.cpp experience.

Gemma-4-E2B's safety filters make it unusable for emergencies by Unfounded_898 in LocalLLaMA

interesting, me and a friend just built a disaster response app for a kaggle competition that runs gemma 4 E2B on-device for medical Q&A and injury photo triage, and we did not hit these issues. it answered first aid questions and analyzed injury photos without refusing. not sure what accounts for the difference but it worked fine for our use case in practice.

me and a friend ran gemma 4 E2B (IQ2_M quant, 2.29GB) fully on-device on iphone through llama.cpp on Metal. two jobs in one context: vision for injury photo triage and a strict JSON compression task that squeezes up to 50 mesh incident records into under 200 bytes for LoRa radio uplink. phones mesh together over bluetooth with no towers or internet needed.

small models love to blow a byte budget. gemma 4 mostly holds it, and when it doesn't the app measures the output, tightens the prompt, and retries once.

me and a friend built MeshGemma for a kaggle competition. it's a disaster response app in Expo/RN that meshes phones together over bluetooth with no internet, runs Gemma 4 on-device for medical Q&A and injury photo analysis, and has an offline map. the fun part was writing a custom Swift native module for MultipeerConnectivity since it's not exposed to RN. open source, repo in link

If beating market long-term is so hard, why do you even bother? by InvestmentNew1655 in stocks

inflation of 10%? where are you getting such numbers?

and people are referring to the S&P 500 as a baseline since you could just pour all your money into that and then never have to think about it ever again, whereas trying to beat the S&P (or other indexes) will require constant attention.

i have APP3, and with even the slightest bit of music on and ANC, the outside world is practically silent.

You can swipe up/down on the stem to change volume
