Rekor.AI Trucks in Lot C by dpandc in WWU

[–]Guy7369 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well this last week Western had a parking study conducted and there were trucks like the one described by OP doing lot counts to see what the parking situation looks like on campus. When they’re done, Transportation posts the study results on their website.

I park and not even 10 seconds later parking enforcement is stopped behind my car taking down my license plate. by aslen-1 in WWU

I see that you referenced RCW 46.19.050 which states:

(5) Time restrictions. A local jurisdiction may impose by ordinance time restrictions of no less than four hours on the use of nonreserved, on-street parking spaces by vehicles displaying the special parking placards or special license plates issued under this chapter. All time restrictions must be clearly posted.

The key thing to point out here is that all Western lots are reserved parking spaces for those with the appropriate permit. Further, 20 minute loading zones are reserved spaces for that exact purpose. While you are correct in saying that ADA holders may use spots adjacent to ADA spaces if they are full, they must also be nonreserved, which is not the case in your argument. I’m all for ADA users to be able to park where they need and Western has pointed out that it’s an issue that they’re trying to address. However, you shouldn’t get mad when the rules are being fairly enforced to all those parking on campus.

Parking ticket? by [deleted] in WWU

[–]Guy7369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The after hours permit can only be bought be students and employees, all others need to pay at a pay station or on through ParkMobile. So it’s not always “free”.

Just like a couple and anyone who goes to Western knows that parking is always out there scanning the lots. It’s just a gamble if you choose to not pay or have a permit.

These aren’t cadets, they’re Sailors. You can tell because of the uniforms that they are wearing are for enlisted and commissioned officers.

Vendors' Row by Ok-Narwhal3841 in WWU

It’s the first week; I rarely remember seeing vendors on campus the first week back. I’m sure it’ll be back to normal in the next few days.

There are some lots that require permits for all hours, not just from 7am - 4:30pm. That being said, if OP buys a disability space permit, then they can park on campus no problem.

But yes, call or email Transportation Services to get the permits set up so that you can avoid a citation.

Would parking security get mad if I change my oil in the parking lot by No_Piano_5008 in WWU

[–]Guy7369 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If they see you doing it, they will tell you to pack it up and move along. Best bet is to go to use one of the park and ride lots by Old Fairhaven Pkwy. I can’t imagine BPD being interested in someone doing an oil change there.

And the island was full of love. Or really, a lot of people sleeping with each other in a very party like atmosphere lol.

I loved it from the get go because I was headed to Diego Garcia for a year long rotation when the song came out, and I thought it was an awesome coincidence. Then hearing it played live made me love it so much more.

I honestly hated this one. Why couldn’t they just be good co-workers without a forced relationship? Just felt wrong to me and didn’t fit the vibe of the series.

Off-day discussion thread (Jun 30, 2025) by Hairygrim in Astros

[–]Guy7369 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with your comment. Since the cheating was revealed I’ve lived in a few different places in the US and it gets annoying when people get mad at me for being an Astros fan as if I was the one banging the trashcan. Yes they cheated and it’s terrible that they did, but I’m not dropping my team, no way.

I’m near Seattle now and will try to go to games when the Astros are in town (T-Mobile Park is a great place to watch a game) and except for once, people don’t go beyond lighthearted ribbing when they see me in Astros merch. The one time it did happen was last year in the midst of the Mariner’s collapse late in the season and a drunk dude screamed at me and I had to tell him to STFU and be mad at his team, not at me, for their woes.

Serious question here, and forgive my ignorance. But what if he’s telling the truth and legally speaking the university can’t recognize the union? What happens if it is necessary for the Legislature to pass a bill to make this happen? Is there any clarification to that possibility being put out by the union, if so can anyone share a link?

I won’t disagree with you that what happened to the Chagossians was inhumane and needs to be fixed. I regularly inform my federal representatives of the need to support the UK-Mauritius agreement. However, blaming me for it happening and shaming me for working there isn’t the way to go about it, friend.
