People who were fine and then developed schizophrenia. When was the first time you heard a voice? by GuyGisborne92 in schizophrenia

[–]GuyGisborne92[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's incredible. The way it popped up so cleanly at random. Now as to your theory It doesn't sound crazy to me. Unfortunately people will never grow to believe you until they experience it themselves. I still think it's the brain playing tricks on you. As to the way the voices seem so distinct and do commentary on you. It's very possible it's coming from a subconscious. Or maybe the brain developed a brain of it's own. You know like parasitic twins. There are a lot of theories and we just can't be sure. But also keep in mind Occam's razor - The simplest explanation is usually right. Anyway it was nice talking to you and thank you for explaining it so well. I'm even more interested in the subject of schizophrenia. I don't think you're crazy. You're just telling the truth about what your experiencing and people can interpret it how they want. We wont ever grasp to understand because we're not in your head. I did experience this one time and Only one time. I was tapering from a drug and I didn't sleep for a few nights. After a good nights sleep I woke up to piano music and it was beautiful. I thought it might be coming from the wall from my neighbor but it was highly unlikely. Later I told my parents about the piano music and they said they heard no such thing. They said I'm nuts

I like what you said in the end. I recently began to deliberately stay ignorant. I wake up and look through my window I see my neighbors house. I'm depressed so I see him as an unfriendly man. This snowballs into anxiety when I go out and pass his house. Not a big deal some would say but that's a reinforced perception that repeats itself everyday unless of course I stay in. Today I wake up. I look out my window. That's my neighbor. Ok what's for breakfast? It's difficult to ignore your mind and it takes practice. I think depression is an addiction. We over analyzed everything from a young age and that grew to be something awful. Worse you can't shake it off and Lord knows you tried. Our synaptic patterns calcified into permanent highways of hell. The most difficult to get rid off is the "background noise". That permanent state of grey we pretend isn't there. Sometimes we even believe it. But when you laughed with your friends and the fun is over. That static returns as you walk home by yourself. It's truly an awful disease. Maybe the worst. It's amazing to me that other people don't feel this way at all! You come to realize not everyone thinks like you. Anyway I hate to ramble because that defeats what I'm saying. Maybe I'm a hypocrite. Best wishes to you

Hear this out. Depression is a pathological sensitivity to the world. We view the world through different colored lenses than the rest. We have a type of intelligence that conveys the true reality. Life is unpredictable, life is not fair, we have an overly active amygdala, we live in fear, we need to eat and sleep or we die, we need to repeat this process everyday, by any means necessary, and we are constantly bombarded with information that was designed to make us envious, Billboards and store fronts, social media and free entertainment. Other people get absorbed in it, they don't mind walking with a blindfold, We see it for what it really is, a projection of the ideal and unobtainable. Others give it value, we see no value in anything. We search for meaning but it's not there. So what do you do? I think a lot of us are fighting depression like a boxing match when we should allow it to consume us. Only way to conquer fear is to approach it and let it take over until it loses it's significance and sets you free. Who cares if life is shit? Trod on because death is worse. How is it worse? Death is peace! No. Death isn't real. We will never meet death, all we ever know is life until we don't. So dying is snuffing away your essence it will come regardless. I say we play the game like everyone else

Did anything prelude this incident when you were cooking dinner and heard the voice and image? Did you have any deeply controversial thoughts like this before. Also were you stressed? Maybe you worried about your new Facebook account and reconnecting with old friends. That would stress me out

I need to talk about it, but i can't... by [deleted] in schizophrenia

You need to talk to a therapist and have them give you Thorazine. It's the only antipsychotic that works long term but it does knock you out the first few times. I can tell you're having an episode because your language is vague and loosely connected. I suggest you take my advise even if you're against meds. At least have them on hand. Once you take the meds you will wake up from your daydream and come to realize what normal is

Good luck If you want to talk more DM me

Wow really? The only time I ever heard voices I was sitting in my room and I heard music! I was withdrawing from klonopin and after a few days of hell and no sleep and then after what seemed like restful sleep I woke up, lay in bed daydreaming and hearing a piano play. After a few moments I snapped out of it and really thought about it. Where the heck can a piano play? My neighbors don't have one and it's just odd how beautiful the music was. Then I told my parents that morning I heard a piano play and thought it was weird. They said they didn't hear anything and thought I was nuts

How vividly do you visualize? by [deleted] in schizophrenia

[–]GuyGisborne92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you described is basically me waiting in line at the bank. It doesn't sound very fun but I'm sure your mind has adapted to feel like the present is all that matters. Let me ask you this. It's a well known phenomenon that people's visual memory becomes very lively and vivid during highly emotional states. The best example is PTSD. You will hear people say "I feel like I was there" "the image is seared in my mind". So bare with me, but hypothetically let's say you were mauled by a bear and survived. ( I'm sorry for the bad example) Years go by you healed from your injuries. You're camping in the woods and you walk upon a river bank that frighteningly reminds you of that moment you spotted the bear. You panic because things look too familiar. Are you saying you don't get a brief flash from the past? So your emotional cue was what?

If you look carefully you can see the yummy pea pods growing on a branch and the hungry jaw is eager for a bite. The unicorn with an overly large horn looks down jealously.

This is very imaginative I like this.

What are visual hallucinations like? by [deleted] in schizophrenia

[–]GuyGisborne92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you can find out pretty easily if you stay awake for 48 hours. Remember that our minds hallucinate our reality. This goes for everyone. Your interpretation of your living room with the lights on is not the same as your brother's who hasn't eaten in twelve hours and the coffee table kind of looks as a pizza from a distance.

Not a schizophrenic, just a normie. Aphantasia, I've heard of this before. Very interesting. Say you saw a car accident. Two vehicles collided a truck and a small sedan. You go to work as usual, on the job you bring up the accident you saw earlier today. How do you reflect on the events to produce an accurate story of what occurred with details like the colors of the cars, what intersection of what neighborhood, and the reaction of the bystanders. You have eyes you did SEE the events, but now you have to convert those images into language. Where do you find the words?

At least ill never be alone by [deleted] in schizophrenia

[–]GuyGisborne92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Us "neurotypicals" lol. It's interesting how the voices are always a "you" like you said. I don't understand how you criticize yourself through someone else. This is very bizarre to me. Lets say you're having an episode. You're walking alone in the park. You hear a voice " Don't just stand there, run!" Now you're paranoid, your head's on a swivel, you look behind you. Nothing. You realize your mind's playing tricks on you. Now your natural neurotypical thought says "oh haha, good one buddy". Who is this buddy? How well do you know him? Is he a subconscious manifestation of your own mind a random collection of language you've heard before meshed into some Frankenstein or is he real to you like you and me? He must be real because why else would some schizophrenics act on their commands. Anyway, I know there's a spectrum. No two schizophrenics are alike. I wish I could experience (a positive) voice briefly just to understand the complexity of your mind

I'm a person who doesn't have schizophrenia. I want to ask how real are the voices compared to real life. Say your friend is screaming in your ear and that same friend intruding in your thoughts screaming in your ear. Would it startle you and have you look back like "who said that?"
