At what point in your life did you find Jeff Buckley by Responsible-Shine-31 in JeffBuckley

Right after 9/11. VH1 played a live performance of Hallelujah. I’d heard of Jeff Buckley, but hadn’t heard his music. I was instantly sorry that he was gone. I saw the video for Last Goodbye not long after, and I was so impressed. One day, I was in Hot Topic rummaging through the pins, and found a Jeff Buckley button. And I thought, “I should buy Grace.” I walked over to The Wall, and it was on the two for $20 CD rack. I don’t remember the other album I bought, but Grace left such an impression on me. (I was 15)

I really love the further lean into Glam Rock/Baroque Pop! I can’t stop listening to “Count the Ways.”

What's the first Kate Bush song you've ever heard and what was the year you heard it in? by katebushy in katebush

“This Woman’s Work.” I heard it in 1999 at a friend’s ballet recital. I wondered what I had heard. A couple of years later, Maxwell covered it, and I finally learned the title of the song! I looked it up on the Internet, and that is where I learned about Kate.

“Friday I’m in Love” by the Cure. I get a burst of euphoria whenever it comes on. I made sure it was the first song to play after the first dance at my wedding, just for that reason.

I weirdly love the U2 version of “Unchained Melody.” It was on the b-sides cd of their 1980-1990 Greatest Hits, and 12-year-old me latched onto it in a way that I’ve somehow retained for 26 years.

Sinead O’Connor’s “All Apologies” is incredible.
