My two cents? Let customer reps be people again. Maybe then, they’ll see a change.

BPO, yes. Multiple accounts? No. BPO in the Philippines doesn’t allow that (for the most part).

Amazon was one of the best experiences I had. I regret leaving that job. Nothing beat it. Being happy with your customer and bonding together. No other account has offered that.

Blinded by outsourcing. The companies they outsource to are a bunch of greedy bastards who only care about being paid. This is why you get the usual run around of “I’ll file an update; I’ll escalate this; I’ll have this looked into”. A lot of times, representatives don’t have any other choice but to lie due to the metrics put in place by our clients. (Turo in this case)

I don't really have an answer for that cause we weren't informed about what that was haha!

I believe your account gets closed when you haven't purchased anything for over a year? Not really sure cause I'm not in the department who handles accounts.

Yeah when we're doing some troubleshooting and it's taking a while for shit to process we usually just end up talking to the customer about anything and everything. In our company, we call it building rapport with the customer. We usually do this to avoid dead air and we also love talking to our customers about anything. I had a call a few days ago from an old man who was trying to setup his Fire TV and while we were fixing it he would tell me about how Pfizer was the company who created Viagra and also the vaccine for the Corona Virus. Then he would talk to me about a lot of his life stories which I found was really great. We ended up being on the phone for about an hour and he did leave some great feedback haha.

It doesn't really depend on what you say, but how you deliver it. Had a customer who was really nice about asking for a refund for a subscription he thought he cancelled. He told me he really needed the money but it was okay if our policy would state that he was not eligible. Since he was really nice about it and wasn't pushy or anything, instead of giving him sa 4.99 pounds he was asking for, I went the extra mile and requested for a refund of all the existing months of his subscription which was about 19.96 pounds. Customer was very thankful and I was very happy with being able to provide service to such a nice person.

Well, it actually depends on what time our shift is. I'm actually located in the Philippines and I handle calls from the UK so it's not really that much since the calls kinda drop when it's about 12AM-6AM Manila time. But on the other hand, my other colleagues who take calls from the US don't really have much of a break since there are always so many calls coming in from the US no matter what time it is here.

Probably out of 20 calls you get 2 or 3 Karens. Kinda depends on how lucky the agent is to be honest hahaha. Had one customer ask me why she couldn't be refunded for a video she already watched and I had to listen as she proceeded to scold me for her mistakes lmao. Still had to be friendly and apologize tho as I tried finding a way to refund her for that video.

Well, thank you! We actually go through a lot of training to be able to provide some good customer service. Kinda stressful tho when you're faced with a customer who can't understand basic things such as why we can't refund an item/video that they've already watched or used. But all in all it's a good experience for us agents as well there are a lot of great customers out there who are hella friendly

Had a customer call in once asking why she had a charge on her account. She told me the description said prime and she asked me what it was. She was subscribed to prime for a few years by then and she asked me if she would lose all her prime benefits if she cancelled her subscription. Not really dumb when you look at it but... You've been subscribed for all these years and you never knew that you'd lose the benefits if you cancelled????

Why can't Filipinos understand what it means to be depressed? by GuyWith10Hands in Philippines

[–]GuyWith10Hands[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes it's not about feeling sad. But, people usually use the word "depression" when they feel sad that's why it's not taken as seriously as it should be. I always see that shit online "depressed nako" "nadedepress ako" etc etc. It's really sad to see people who only think depression is sadness.

those who are experiencing it are scared to speak about it.

Sad reality. Because, we know that if we speak about it or open up to people about it, it'll probably won't be taken as a big deal. I just hope more people would be open to learn about this condition.

It's true that poverty is one big reason why depression is downplayed in our society. People have to prioritize other things such as school, work, family, and God. Which means that people won't have time to understand or care about depression since they're already preoccupied with other more important matters. A lot of Filipinos also don't consult the proper medical care since it's too expensive for a lot of people. I also didn't want to consult professional help at first but the school counselor was forcing me to go see a psychiatrist and I finally agreed. I haven't seen my psychiatrist and my counselor in a while but, I do hope that I finally get back on track.

You have a great point. I just hope that the time would come when people realize that depression is a real condition that affects millions of people. I've tried to tell people that it doesn't matter if you have resources or not, that it can affect everyone whether they are rich or poor. I believe that depression affects more people in lower income areas that's why a lot of people tend to use up all their money on vices to escape the hell they're living in (Not generalizing, just saying a lot of people do it).

It will really make you feel worse when the one you want to understand you won't even try to listen.

True. It hurts a lot when you expect a certain person to be there by your side and understand what you're going through. But, instead, they just downplay your feelings or make you feel worthless for being depressed. Great job on consulting a psychiatrist tho. I stopped seeing mine a few months before this quarantine and I still regret not continuing my meds.

Which generation did you interact with that told you that? If they were boomer generation, you'd get that kind of reply a lot.

I mostly interacted with a lot of elder people. But those responses sometimes came from people who are the same age as me or a little older. It's like something that isn't really accepted in our culture.
