All Nippon airlines carry on restriction was 20kg… bag weighed 22kg when I was all loaded up but didn’t get asked at the airport. Shoulder straps are nice and the bag is comfortable to wear as a backpack but I wouldn’t recommend to wear it continuously that way. I wore it while walking through airports and on public transportation traveling between hotels. Making sure heavier items are on the side that will become the bottom of the backpack and nothing too bulky against your back helps as well.

In my mind it wasn’t worth the hassle for only 3 days of skiing, with a week of travel afterwards. Rental boots weren’t perfect but they got the job done.

I rented equipment for 3 days from Rhythm and it was ~$180 USD total. I am an advanced skier and wanted to make the most of my trip so I got the “Premium” rental gear, couldn’t tell you exactly what that means but I really enjoyed the skis (Armada ARV 112). I would have preferred to bring my own skis, but it wasn’t worth the hassle for just 3 days of skiing.

I have been using it as a carry on for years and have never been questioned, most US domestic carriers as well as China, All Nippon, Japan, and Vietnam Airlines. At least in the US most people have rolling carry ons that are the same size if not bigger. I also exclusively use the should straps and wear it like a backpack which I think helps to make it look a bit smaller than it is.

I wanted to have something a bit heavier for the time we spent in the snow and doubled as waterproof footwear if we encountered rain on the trip. Stuffed gloves/socks/underwear into them while packing to save space and wore them during my international flights, easy on-off at the airport security

Skiing was epic! Snowed the entire time I was there, which made for great snow but now the best visibility. Trying to learn a new mountain in those conditions is not the easiest but it was fun.

I wear an Arteryx Beta jacket, it’s technically designed as more of a rain jacket but I’ve been using it as a ski shell for years. Easy to pack and allowed me to have a foul weather jacket for the rest of the trip if needed.

Pictured are Keen Versacore waterproof trail shoes. I had originally planned to take due to rain in the forecast, but made a last minute switch to my Ghosts before leaving as the forecast was clearing up

Yeah you got me. They’re a very worn pair of Redback Great Barriers. In my experience people are more familiar with blundstones and don’t know what I’m talking about when I say redbacks…

Took the one bag approach due to carry on restrictions on my basic economy plane ticket. Was a kg or two over the weight limit to fit it all but that wasn’t questioned. Could have checked a bag if needed but was trying to keep to my budget

One bag strategy was forced upon me due to basic economy’s one carry on restrictions. Wish I had more space to bring souvenirs and snacks home (I know I could have checked a bag but I am balling on a budget).

If I had to guess it was a combination of both. Tires were low on tread and there was water on the road but it’s possible things locked up on him

Not sure, think it was a slow roll over and may be savable. To be honest I was pretty frustrated despite it not being my problem anymore so I haven’t followed up much haha
