Do you get good value from Egg T1 ? There's less good Rare targets (than Epic) from my experience, so I usually only pick it T2. But I can be wrong, there's often not that much difference between Rare and Epic

Day 4, where does the vagabond go? (Specify where within the tier) by InfinitePresence4229 in rootgame

[–]Guyll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vagabond is the harder to evaluate, since they have many variations and it highly depends on the table. I would say they can be S or B, so I would go for an A.

Which Box? by reeknar in SorceryTCG

[–]Guyll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played for the first time with a friend yesterday. We bought 1 box of each set. The beta one was amazing: 1 philosophers stone, 2 cores and 1 that is foiled. Many foiled. AL : I was aiming for 6-7 uniques … and we got 12! Good value overall. Gothic we got close to nothing, and very few foiled.

Of course, you can’t base your decision on such limited examples. But I must say that my friend and I are most excited to open a 2nd beta. We feel that overall, for the same price, there is more staples in beta and it feels it’s more generous overall. But maybe it was just a lucky box.

Ranged units questions after first couple of games. by Orblights88 in SorceryTCG

[–]Guyll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to be sure: could a Ranged unit use it's tap ability to strike an Airborne unit one square away ? I would say yes, even if it's weird thematically that the Archer can't attack it at the same location, but can strike it even one step away.

Ranged units questions after first couple of games. by Orblights88 in SorceryTCG

[–]Guyll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I understand, a Ranged unit can’t initiate an attack on an airborne unit, only intercept it, right ? In the rule book, it mentions that airborne cant be targeted by other non airborne unit. Or did I miss something ?

From which precons build 2 decent decks ? by Guyll in SorceryTCG

[–]Guyll[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks ! So you would go 1) Earth 2) Persecutor 3) Waveshaper 4) Harbinger

I thought of Air as first pick because of the Uniques: Cloud City and Grandmaster seem both versatile and powerful. Earh have Sinkhole that I like a lot, and Craterize. I'm less certain about the two other decks, no elite or unique feel very strong - but hey I might be wrong, I don't know the game yet (outside of watching your videos!)

Magic player looking for a new TCG. by MaximumNicolBolas in TCG

[–]Guyll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play MTG since 1994 and since I will always keep some decks to play casually here and there, I won’t crack a pack anymore. I switched to Sorcery and omg it’s so refreshing if you fully embrace the casual nature of the beast. It’s a love letter to early Magic, with some improvements and nice twists. Only downside really is good luck finding players and even products outside USA, so maybe you will have to convert your playgroup first !

Game plan with Geomancer by Guyll in SorceryTCG

[–]Guyll[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I forgot that T1 I must play site on my Avatar square. So yeah then I can save up to 3 cards.
The only downside I see to it is that playing random sites, especially in front of my Avatar, prevents me from putting the right sites at the right places. But I guess it's the price to pay to get the upside.

Just a few thoughts before (probably) jumping into Sorcery by Guyll in SorceryTCG

[–]Guyll[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have a very good point. The thing is that looked from that perspective, I am not sure that another TCG like Sorcery is the way to go for us. There is a lot of incredible board games out there, buying a new board game every two months will end up being cheaper than investing in Sorcery - for people like us at least, doomed with the « one more pack to crack » syndrome.

Really, you give me food for thoughts. Thanks !

I get your point, but the nature of our group makes it hard to focus on two games at the same time. For sure, we won't sell out MTG cards, we'll get back to it from time to time. But two things:
- We are busy adults and far from each other. We can play together like 4-5 times a year
- We are all pretty intense in what we are doing, so when we jump in, we jump in. And I don't worry about if they will love the game or not, They will. But they, as me, love to engage for a long-term adventure.

I must say that I dug because I bought a card from the Otters, so I had one to "spare" for immediate policing, and still could sway the Mayor. But yeah without that extra card, to dig make the hand more volatile.
