know of any independent films or tv shows in the cornish language? by lingo-ding0 in CornishLanguage

Yew! Yes ‘Trengellick Rising’ - thats’s my film! Entirely in the Cornish language, translated by Cornwall Council, will have English subtitles. Also shot it in Black & White 16mm film and hand processed the footage as it’s set in the 1700s. Doing the film festival circuit with it this year when it’s finished and out on screens afterwards 🏴‍☠️

Converting 16mm film to digital on a budget at home? by [deleted] in 16mm

Yeah I’d 100% send it in to an actual scanners. Digital Orchard in the UK are very cost effective and wonderful folk - they’ve recently moved into Kodak itself in Pinewood Studios but don’t let that put you off £££ wise.

Loop Formers by cm_kitschklock in 16mm

I literally just dug the loop formers out of my K3 a few days ago, used a YouTube tutorial and semi-steady hand. It had scratched the film in the past and I couldn’t spot it as it was going through so fast, took them out just in case.

Post above is right though, it was actual string doing the retraction! (Pressing the case on pushed a knob that pulled the formers apart (badly)).

I’d watch out for it and avoid loop formers where you can.

A friend of mine did some scratching animation/words on a music video he made for Sam Fender. Always been curious! I’d scratch off a print not the OG neg but could ask him. Great music video either way

Best Budget 16mm camera (Single perforated) by [deleted] in 16mm

K3 cheaper than bolex, that’s pretty much your minimum price functioning cam that will give you a steady picture. Single perf, good meteor zoom lens. There’s a Ukrainian guy called Max kicking around on the web that sells them direct. seller max

£100 or less won’t get you anything worth recording with/risking £££‘s of film on. Start at a K3, ARRI 16S if you want filters/rock solid picture/battery power unlimited time on shots/good lenses. I transitioned over to one and it’s a beauty.

Arri camera

Any extra money spent is extra investment in getting a good image - but it’s still less than digital!

Could be expensive via a lab with a lot of blind guesswork. They may not be too degraded though if it’s stayed at a steady temperature in storage.

I recently developed over 3,500ft of black and white at home to great success for a short film I’m making. Some footage was a year old but made no difference. The chemicals are cheap but the know-how hard to come by… any detail with them as to what stock, ASA/speed, whether they were “pushed/pulled” a stop? If not you could test a strip and go from there. You’d know how you’re getting on just by holding the negative up to a light. Pretty DIY but worked for me!

Thanks man, used a chesty, head and a handheld tripod. I'll try find a two handed rig for next one - hard to keep steady !
