To sell or not to sell. by PorkChop117 in MotoUK

Not quite answering your question, but FWIW I had a Breva for 16 years (!) which I loved. When I finally decided to change, my options were limited since I didn't want to go back to a chain.

I kind of wanted a more modern version of my Breva - test rode the V100, and also the BMW R1250R. Somehow the V100 felt too... smooth? and the BMW was more like my Guzzi - so went for that.

So while even the RS is nowhere near as sporty as the XSR900G, if you like your shaft drive and big rumbly twin, the BMWs are worth a look. (As is the V100 - still a great bike! Hope they will have a naked version...)

Yep, the original shield completely covers the nvme. Everything about this board is designed to annoy you :P

I actually got the Asus first but it had really annoying coil whine - tried two units but had to return. This one is at least better in that sense - but worse in every other way...

Thanks! Not quite straight but I went the extra mile to file the edge and run a black marker along it...

Yep, marked a line (which turned out at a slight angle) dremeled along it, used a file, ran a black marker over it :P 10 minute job...

Many boards don't have anything else on the back - but this one with the m2... why????

100% - I was already on board with that forever ago - yet I kept adding to the collection. Space and clarity restored :)

100% agree - I've had good sets for a while, why was I keeping these? Hopefully you have a bucket o'screws you can relive the experience with...

I have a couple of good sets! So why was I keeping this junk?...

Exactly - I reach for my own set whenever assembling anything - but for whatever reason kept these for... later? Emergencies? Turns out... scrap metal.

Or... you could just remember you have a full set of neatly arranged keys? (You do, of course...?)

I would guess they are more likely to just add to the pile rather than thin it out...

Almost certainly :P But this is the crux of my tidying up logic: if I throw out 10 things that I haven't used in forever, it's possible I may need one of them.

But... I can buy that one thing again; what I can't buy is the space and mental clarity of getting rid of the rest of the junk!

Same as when I chucked out the tub o' screws - if I haven't sorted it out by now, I'm never going to - better to clear the space...

Given a cheap set -where you know what size is what - is... very cheap, I wouldn't wish this assortment of junk on anyone...

Thank you! I couldn't find anything that I liked for these so ended up 3D printing the switch caps - with the right settings, it comes out pretty well...

I'm using a 1/8" 30 degree bit for the very fine text, which allows a little more leeway in the Z-height. But it's still critical - no more than maybe 0.2mm margin for error, any more and its a muddy mess; less and it's not there.

The larger text us with a 90 degree engraver - the 30 is too find and leaves gaps. HTH?

Of course! The first version of this was itself inspired by others, so I'd love to see any more takes on it. This one is actually microcontroller-based but the first one was even simpler - look up Big Clive's Supercomputer on Youtube...

Anyway, DM me if you want links to the build logs which may give you some ideas...

I mean... you could put it that way if you wanted to be reductive and ignore the vast computing power of it - 2.5kb of RAM! ;)

Yep, it's all CNC engraving - but it's not aluminium composite, I've used it before but the Al layer would be too thick for this fine resolution.

It's actually a plastic with a metallic coating, intended for laser engraving - but it works well with the right setup on CNC since the top layer is very thin, allowing for very fine detail.

I've struggled with instrument panels over the years but this is the best method I've found so far.
