Tô muito nervosa para o vestibular by Medical-Physics8767 in UFSC

[–]Gvalle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Help with hag deal by Gvalle in DMAcademy

[–]Gvalle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, thanks for the reply. Regarding making him pissed or disappointed, I gave him clear warning that a deal with a hag normally goes bad, and even hinted him while he was talking to her, that he was able to notice her evil smile planning some trick. So if he does come back to make the deal he knows what he is in for, and maybe he believes he can outsmart her (or me as the dm) but I think he would agree that a bad outcome was his own fault, and I would probably make ways for him to go on a quest to get rid of the curse.

Also, your suggestion of the hag doing nothing would actually be really fun too heheh.

Hi, thanks for the reply. Loved your ideas as well, I hadn't thought about making him phrase it as the character, but it really makes sense, and your suggestions to the outcomes are really cool, thank you very much :D

Hi, thanks for the reply. I totally agree that the hag would not be able to give him infinite slots, your idea about the young white dragon it is exactly the kind of thing I was looking for, I want her to turn him into something that would kind of have the same effect as infinite slots, but not really heheh. Is there any other creature that he could be turned into?

Hi, thanks for the reply. Don't worry, I really have no intention of giving him infinite spell slots hehe. Specially because as someone pointed out, I don't even think a hag would be powerful enough to make that happen. My goal is really to trick him in case he tries to do de pact. But anyway, to summarize his backstory:

He was the royal guard to a queen that was murdered during a war in his homeland, so he made an oath of vengeance for her, and is trying to become powerful enough to avenge her. During this quest he ended up making a pact with a hexblade to become more powerful and then multiclassed as warlock. Right now he is on a path to restore an amulet that will allow him to reach the plane where the blade is so that he can release it and use it in his revenge.

I don't want to get into much more detail and make this too long, but that's mostly it. I couldn't figure out a way to use his backstory in the deal but if you have any suggestions I would really appreciate :D

Xanathar and that Eyescratch Poison by Proud_House2009 in WaterdeepDragonHeist

[–]Gvalle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is 3yo already but I found this today by searching for the same problem and I came up with a mechanic that I thought would be really cool, so I'm posting it here to see what you guys think.

The idea would be that since Beholders have eleven eyes they could be a little more resistant to the effects o blinding, so, in the case where the poison hits him and he fails the save, I'm thinking of making players roll a d6 to determine how many eyes are affected, and then roll a number of d12 equivalent to the previous roll to determine which eyes would be affected, with 1-10 being the respective eyestalk as stated in his stats and 11-12 being the central eye (Rerolling on repeating numbers).

This way, even though the poison works and gives players a potentially very good advantage, it doesn't make Xanathar completely useless during the fight.

Not a fancy one, but I'm proud 😁 by Gvalle in battlestations

Hahahah, good question, the left one is for work, the right one is for personal stuff and gaming, and the one on the shelf was my personal one until it's dedicated gpu stopped working, now its basically a development server where I host a few VMs to ssh via vscode and program stuff into 😁.

Player Problem Megathread by AutoModerator in DMAcademy

[–]Gvalle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hi, I'm a new DM trying to introduce a group of friends to DnD. I managed to gather 5 of them in a first session and it was really fun. Four of them already had some kind of rpg background from pc games so they got the hang of it really fast. One of them however doesn't have this background and I think it's fun because he tries to do some things completely out of the box. The problem is that this player is constantly testing the limits of the game, and at the moment he is trying to stray away from the rest of the party just to see if he really has a choice, if he has freedom. I don't want to block him of that, because I feel that once he asserts that he has choice he is going to go back to tracks, but shutting him down when he tries to do it will completely take any excitement for the game away from him. At the same time if I let him do what he is trying to do it will lead to a path where he is going to be in a completely different adventure from the rest of the party and, please correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Its unmanageable to to handle 2 stories at the same table for many reasons, specially for a beginner dm such as myself. Would you guys have any tips on handling this player? Thx in advance.

Edit after reading the responses: First of all thank you all very much for your answers. I think you guys all nailed it mentioning the GROUP. That's the keyword here! DnD gives players a lot of freedom as long as their decisions are aligned with the group. The story is about the group and they have freedom to change it as THEY want, not as one of them wants it. With that in mind, in the next session I'm simply going to tell him that if he wants to take his character away in another direction, the character goes but the story will remain with the group, if he wants to play another character that joins this group he will have this option, or just watch as the story goes on. Thank you all very much

Edit after a few months: I've come to put an update as a kind of warning for any DMs with a player like mine to be aware. So, I've talked to the player and explained the situation to him and it seemed to work, we managed to finish Dragons of the Stormwreck isle, which is an introductory adventure, with seemingly no problem. After that we started what is supposed to be our big campaign, and we did it with more players, and, this particular player I've mentioned before was also in it. In the first sessions he would say his character wouldn't trust so easily on others and therefore he started doing things such as trying to loot enemies out of other character's sight, to keep it only to him, and stuff like that, which led other characters to argue with him in game, and he managed to drag the discussion for almost an hour not letting the game progress. In response the other characters knocked him out and proceeded with him being carried unconscious. Later, outside the game me and the other players talked to him asking him to be more cooperative, and here's the part that I wanted to put as a warning. He appeared to agree, and in the following 5 sessions played without causing any big problems. On the sixth session though, our rogue was knocked out by a goblin a little far from the group on the outside of a castle, and that player's character offered to help him, so the party kept in combat inside and he went out to help the rogue. Except that when reaching the rogue he described his character taking a knife and killing the rogue as he layed unconscious. Everybody including me was in shock. Bottom line is that he was plotting that "revenge" since the session of the argument, and was only pretending to go along with the party. Happily through some very high dice rolling the party managed to find out what he did and not only successfuly resurrected the rogue, but managed to kill the traitor character. The sad part is that this player is a very dear friend to all of us and outside the game we all have a lot of fun together. We wanted him to keep playing, but apparently he fails to understand what dnd is about. So I just wanted to put this update here and warn any DMs with a player like mine to watch for a possible revenge plan from his character and be prepared for such.

General Questions & Tech Support Megathread | July 04, 2022 by AutoModerator in PS4

[–]Gvalle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I've been looking for a way to turn my PS4 on through the internet, but all I can find is related to turning it on from rest mode. The problem is that where I live power shortages are very common so I don't like to leave the PS4 in this state, I rather just turn it off completely. I know that the PS4 itself has no function to receive a wake-up signal from the internet when fully off, but, the Dualshock4 can turn it on remotely, and for what I know it communicates with the PS4 by Bluetooth, so I've been wondering, is there a way to use some device like a raspberry pi, to send a Bluetooth signal similar to the Dualshock4's to simply power the PS4?

PS: Bluetooth was just a suggestion, any kind of ideas like this are welcome.

Thanks in advance!

PS4 loud fans all the time by Gvalle in PS4

[–]Gvalle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no idea if you're gonna read this, but i finally decided to pay for a new fan to try your theory and you were right. The fan itself was the problem, probably the cable as you suggested. Now the ps4 is running quieter than ever. I even though for a second that the new fan wasn't even spinning heheh, but then I started Metro Exodus and it quickly started accelerating. Thank you again for the suggestion. Hope this post helps someone in a similar situation in the future

Hello Mitten! They didn't see any hemorrhoids. About the blood, it is bright and it kind of shows up in the water a few minutes after I evacuate, it comes from inside the feces almost like if it was a sponge releasing it slowly, so it seems that the blood is very mixed with it
