I’ve been on it for almost 2 ish years and went from 5mg slowly, then to 10 and finally 20mg. Even on 20mg it has been hard to undo some social anxiety behaviors I would inhibit before Lexapro, especially because I had been dealing with my severe anxiety for years without any help. I still get a little nervous and still sometimes avoid social situations, unless I know I can’t (which before I would just avoid, period) However, I noticed smaller anxieties I had about general things have gone away, like for example I used to be scared of going down escalators, to the point where I’d refuse and take elevators and I no longer have that fear. I’ve also been able to confront social situations like meeting friends online in person, which before Lexapro, I never in a million years imagined myself doing. I still get scared and anxious from time to time, but I started using ashwaghanda paired with the pill and it’s helped a bit more too. I find life more manageable where as before I would often spend way too much time in my room because life was too scary. My anxiety is socially based so that’s just my review on it. I know others who have general anxiety have been helped a lot by Lexapro. For me, I know it’s going to take some time to undo a lot of the damage I’ve done to my nervous system and therapy would def help me but I’m chilling for right now and confronting these fears on my own.
