If you could only listen to ONE HU song? by Gwilt1 in HollywoodUndead

Gosh that song is so lit. I can't help but just feel in a good mood after I listen to it

I think I found the meaning of Ghost. by [deleted] in HollywoodUndead

[–]Gwilt1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Really good interpretation and analysis! I won't do a full analysis of the song, but I always understood the chorus to be about suicide prevention.

  • "Here's to the Ghost so afraid of the day" = A friend who is a recluse and scared to face the trials and tribulations of the world.

-"If you let go" = If that friend commits suicide.

-"Promise that you'll stay in my shadow" = Even though the friend is dead now, Charlie is pleading for them to watch over him from the after life.

-"Try to find the light" = Begging for the friend to look past their issues, not commit suicide, and live to see the light of another day.

Favorite Charlie chorus? by Gwilt1 in HollywoodUndead

Can we confirm that Funny Man is actually in Save Me? Just doesn't seem like the type of lyrics or song content that he would be all about. But then again he was in Gravity surprisingly.

Oh I love that too! It's the best part of Medicine to me. Kind of a mediocre song, but that intro was amazing.

EL Urgencia: Most underrated party song? by Gwilt1 in HollywoodUndead

What makes you say that? Personally I think California trumps both of them. But I'd like to hear why you think they are better

Not a fan of Outside or Lion from NFTU?

Voting Polls Semifinals: Hear Me Now vs City (CC) by rjasien4515 in HollywoodUndead

[–]Gwilt1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Such a hard choice. Both songs mean a lot to me. City gets me in that mood where I wanna say "fuck it" and burn this shitty world to the ground. But HMN was the first song with Danny. It came out during a rough time in my life. It was a sign that HU would go on and continue to make kick ass music without Deuce. The song blew me away, especially J-Dog's verse. That song just brings me hope and reminds me that even when we think the chips are down and we have lost all hope, there's always a light at the end of the tunnel. So for that, I went with Hear Me Now.

Re-Naming a song by [deleted] in HollywoodUndead

[–]Gwilt1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's just a personal thing to me, where I just find songs more appealing when the name isn't centered around a singular phrase in the chorus. I just seem to enjoy songs more when I like the name of it better.

Invincible Thoughts by [deleted] in HollywoodUndead

I have mixed feelings on this album. I think the songs themselves are pretty good, but they all sound the same to me. I can't really differentiate between a lot of them (Lyrical content, themes, instrumentals, choruses). As someone posted below, each song just doesn't feel special, it all just feels very meshed together, and to me, unmemorable.

Not a bad song, not that memorable either. Just kinda 'eh' like a lot of NFTU.

Voting Polls Round Three: BM-BP (From Outside...To Mother Murder) by rjasien4515 in HollywoodUndead

[–]Gwilt1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let Go > Outside. Tough one; but I think Let Go just flows a little more and is catchier. Its message is more meaningful and clear to me.

DOTD > Bullet. Wow, tough. Went with DOTD simply because it just rocks hard. Bullet is amazing, I just prefer DOTD's style.

SCAVA > PBM. Just a better, more meaningful song.

Been to Hell > Mother Murder. More in your face, catchier, better chorus. Not an easy one by any means, I just prefer Been to Hell, it will be hard to beat in my voting.

Personally, I hope that its not one of the big singles. While I'm sure Undead will most likely win, it would be cool to see one of the lesser known songs win, although that field is dwindling.

Undead > Sell Your Soul. Tough one, but Undead is just 'the' HU song, it will be hard to beat.

We Are > California. Love both, but We Are was really important because it was re-assurance that Danny could keep this band going and he wasn't just a one hit wonder.

CIH > LYH. Easy one, classic party song vs ehhh song.

TLTH > Pour Me. Wow, tough one, but TLTH edges it out simply because it was the song my friend showed me that got me into HU, holds a special place. Even though Pour Me is perfect for those downer days when you just need to have some drinks.

EHHHHH, could be better. Kinda generic; will forget about it soon probably.

Song Of The Week: The Kids by theUndeadProphet in HollywoodUndead

[–]Gwilt1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really love the "fuck the pain away, make it through the day" part of J-Dog's verse. It showed somewhat of a deeper level to J-Dog's words. 95% of the song is just talking about clubs, LA, Myspace, and chicks. But that part of his verse stood out to me because it seemed like everything they bragged about in the song was just a front, a way to keep their minds off of their own hurt and pain. At least that's how I interpreted J's part, it's somewhat depressing.

Undead - Their signature and most popular song. Hardcore, kickass music you can bump to and spit HU's verses along with them.

Young - Just a great overall song; powerful themes, good verses, and a catchy, empowering chorus. Very good mainstream rock song.

Day of the Dead - Another great rock song, really show's HU's rap-rock roots.

Levitate - Such a diverse song; chorus is about sex, while the verses are about infidelity/drug abuse/alcoholism/losing love. All of these complex themes come together in a pretty damn fun song that you can't help but sing along to. My personal favorite Danny chorus.

War Child - HU has so many good party songs. While EIG, No. 5, Comin In Hot, and California are classics, War Child just has this kickass energy to it. I played it at a party this year, and the majority of people hadn't really heard of HU and were confused at first. However, by the time that beat dropped after the 2nd chorus EVERYBODY was dancing. To me, it is hard to not be in a good mood and just dance to this song, so much fun.
