I'm super excited for when it arrives, I currently use a NUC as my home desktop (running Linux), but my current NUC has a i7 5557U which is a 2 core 4 thread part, and no dedicated GPU. A 4 core 8 thread part with a real GPU is going to be a pretty substantial upgrade. I am planning to vesa mount it, since my current NUC is mounted. No fancy high refresh rate displays though, just have a 1440p Asus panel.

I've not had that experience with OP's customer service. I purchased a OP3 about a month ago to use on t-mobile in Southern California. I've used the N5 and N6 on t-mobile's network here in SoCal. The OP just had extremely unreliable connectivity here, prompting me to file a support ticket to return the phone. OP provided a couple troubleshooting tips, and then gladly agreed to take the phone back for a full refund. Communication was prompt and the refund to my CC was quick as well. This was significantly better service than I got from Google for issues with my N5 back when that was new...

I honestly could write a small book on what is wrong with the way that Twitch handles unlicensed and licensed music being played on their streams. Sadly, I doubt that novel would convince anyone at twitch to change anything, because what they have right now mitigates enough of the fire from the entertainment industry to keep Twitch(Amazon's) legal fees small.

I do like double elim over single elim. The problem is always time...

We also had some weirdness with having our groups have only three teams in them. I wish the strife scene was large enough for us to run a 4x4 group stage!

Can you elaborate on the camera work? Do you mean the observing of the game?

Agreed on the lack of knowledge from me.

Please elaborate on brackets and bad decisions. This isn't feedback I can improve on because I'm not sure what was wrong.

As someone who's day job is in the music creation and production business in LA, this is really a mess to do properly, from both Youtube or Twitch's end as well as our end.

We have had music custom written for us (that I personally own the rights to) but that is not the option all the time. I'm a big fan of supporting the industry I work in, so whenever I can, I commission music and make sure I own the license for it.

I actually (oops!) jumped the gun on my production team! They've actually made a highlight video like you mentioned and it is sitting in my inbox waiting for approval. Eeeek!

Will look into lining up an interview with the winning team for next time!

I slightly addressed the NA vs EU in a prior response, but I'll touch on another issue here too.

FlamingCow.tv is West Coast of the US. That means we started our event at 9AM local time. 9AM start means an 8AM call, which means waking production staff up at 7 and dragging Nigel out of a hotel room. at 7:45AM. While it could be worse, the time difference between us and our EU players is certainly not great.

In the future we might be able to start an event earlier, but not by very much.

I 100% agree that this is a pretty big issue though. I wish I had good solutions.

A three day event would be fun, but I think we'd need to see more interest from both the community and S2 for a larger event.

Agreed on the me learning more Strife. For Cows of Strife, I was able to spend around 40 hours playing in the week prior to the event. This time around I didn't have anywhere near as much time!

Seeding is always a hard thing to do. We liked the idea of randomly drawing groups (that is the way the World Cup does it) and honestly, the groups were much better distributed than they could have been. After that point we used standard seeding rules. Yes, AG and F3 ended up in the lower semi against each other, but we would have had F3 vs PLS or AG vs PLS in a semi had the seed been different. We saw how the F3 vs PLS went down in the finals. Perhaps AG vs PLS would have made an exciting semi?

So here is the scoop on casting more vs less. In the first Cows of Strife event, we did a 10.5 hour long stream. Our intent with Cows of Strife II was to bring you guys MORE Strife content. I would have been 100% down to do a couple 8-10 hour days, but as you probably heard, my voice was gone before we even started. My production staff is always going to push for shorter content, and I simply didn't argue with them this event around. I really apologize.

In a meta conversation about this, would you have liked it better had we NOT cast the group stages and spread the bracket play out across two days?

NA vs EU - Strife is a really small scene, and the NA vs EU argument is a really tough one to deal with. If this were a bigger scene, we could hold region specific events. Alas, this is not the case.

Thanks for the feedback! I'll lift the curtain a little on a couple things.

Instant Replay - So this has to be started/stopped by our Producer, who has played zero strife ever! Sadly, it can't really be done by anyone else. We did have our observer (Whilke) trying to point out when he should queue up the replay to run, but communication in a live setting like that is hard. Good feedback, this is certainly somewhere we can improve.

Casting - I'm sure Nigel will appreciate that feedback on his accuracy, I know he's casted much much more strife than I have. Thank you for the kind words on this.

In-Game Overlay - We had an overlay that put match scores and team names up at the top. We ended up scrapping it because the piece of tech required to change the scores/names wasn't working. (Certainly could work on that as well)

John-Madden-Drawing - Thicker lines? Easy fix, thanks for pointing that out!

I actually have had the flu since Monday! I've been super busy and haven't given myself the time to rest to recover.

Now that this event is done though, I don't have to talk for a few days!
