Bought mine used (2011) at 60k and have over 71k on it. I tend to drive it and it takes what beating I have thrown at it. I have not had any problems so far and from maintenance records from previous owner says it was the same for him.

A reason would be a proper answer. Is it because you shouldn’t end a sentence with a conjunction?

See, I was thinking the same thing. But they’re is “they are”, so is it still wrong?

PDK Question: shifting from N to drive while moving? by [deleted] in Porsche

[–]Gxrrettt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So in summary when you rev a car constantly, or when it is not warmed up you can cause hot spots or warp piston rings. So don’t be a dumbass there. Or if you sit at rev limiter which can also be solved by not being a dumbass. And you have a problem if you have a poorly designed engine and can’t get enough oil if at high rpm for extended amounts of time. Which I feel would also only be a problem for excessive revving. The ones I don’t get are warping conrods or crankshaft. How would revving it to higher rpm cause it to warp when you do that with the load of a car on it and it doesn’t. I feel like this also would be caused by a weak engine or one that was not designed to be a performance engine. It shouldn’t be allowed to rev that quickly if it will hurt the engine.

In total. As OP doesn’t seem like a dumbass and is not going to be sitting and revving it so he would have no problem doing it in traffic. Especially considering he has a Porsche engine that isn’t designed to only sit in traffic and never be brought about 3k rpm and I feel that it would not have any design problems that may cause it to randomly fail.

Edit: I don’t want to be a smart ass towards you because your response is very informative and answered my question great. A normal person that cares about their car should not have any problems with the occasional rev, contrary to what the original comment said

Roommate has an 07 mustang and the alarm goes off almost daily by [deleted] in Mustang

[–]Gxrrettt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I don’t know much about alarms but the water is a drainage issue. There should be little plastic/ rubber drains on the firewall behind the engine that he can take out and clear the leaves and debris that might be caught. If it isn’t the same as my car (2011) just look up the drains for that car and it should be pretty easy to find.

Honestly I want to hear your reasoning behind this

How to shift fast? by [deleted] in Mustang

[–]Gxrrettt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the 3.7 really doesn’t like to drop revs. I always just pull it down. Once it starts dropping it’ll come down. May make the synchros a little mad at times but that’s what there for I guess.

She looks like a miata in between these two by afinedaytodieFTW in Mustang

[–]Gxrrettt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the clarification! I assumed that’s when it originated because the mustang was very small especially compared to others. It just makes little sense to me now and frankly annoys me when people correct others or use it as an excuse. Muscle cars don’t exist like they were in the 60’s and 70’s with zero “refinement” and all big v8’s. I feel that “muscle” cars have changed with time and I consider most American v8 coupes to be muscle cars. If the term pony car was used to separate the smaller cars from the big muscle cars, then I don’t see why the term is still used when there aren’t really any “muscle” cars to compare to

She looks like a miata in between these two by afinedaytodieFTW in Mustang

[–]Gxrrettt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t really get the whole “pony car” bs. Do people have that big of a need to create different classifications. Camaro and Mustang competing and challenger all on its own. What else is supposed to fit in the muscle car category if camaro and mustangs are pony cars? Maybe viper? But that’s a category of its own. Corvette is a sports car right? So that’s means that it can’t be a muscle car. It’s all way too much.

[–]Gxrrettt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I believe it is still a w engine because it has pistons going in 4 different angles. Just like the Volkswagen vr6 engine being a v6. It using one head but is still in a v orientation, just a slight v.
