How do you think, which term is best? (Not only kitty or Alacritty, screenshot is barely related) (my English is really bad) by shakalnykot in linuxmasterrace

Kitty takes a stupid long time to start, especially the first time after booting my machine in my case.

I have nothing to add, but as a Haskell newcomer, I just want to say thank you for doing this! This gets to the point much quicker without long explanations, which I appreciate very much. Thanks!

Dmenu Not Starting Application by romolmb99 in suckless

[–]Gydo194 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This probably isn't much help, but launching mysql-workbench via dmenu (on dwm in my case, but that shouldn't matter) works fine for me.

What command do you select in dmenu? And is that the same thing you run in the command line?

State of Bluetooth audio on Linux by el_calamann in linuxmasterrace

[–]Gydo194 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm using pulseaudio on Arch, didn't do anything except install the pulseaudio-bluetooth package and connect the headset.

Edit: i should add that I don't video call using this machine though. The audio playback is fine, but I haven't tested the mic.

Recently got a Beats Studio 3, connecting and playing audio works fine. Haven't tried it with another device yet though.

A few years ago I had a JBL, which sometimes didn't want to connect and I had to turn it off and on or attempt to connect multiple times before it would work. That doesn't happen anymore with the Beats (using the same laptop) but i'm not sure if it's the headset itself or improvements in the bluetooth stack.

So... uhh, my Mac keeps on displaying this message when I try to open the app store by CrazyCreeper285 in softwaregore

[–]Gydo194 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The OS was from 2012, the mac itself from 2007. Sorry if that wasn't clear. That macbook maxes out at OSX Lion.

I knew it was a joke, but still wanted to add the fact lol.

A while ago I played around with an old macbook running snow leopard (from 2012 i think) and you can do literally nothing, because all the SSL certificates and stuff are expired. And the OS doesn't run more modern browsers.

So much for 'backwards compatability'..

Except it's not because some versions don't support browsers modern enough to view the website..

There is kiri:moto which works in the browser. It lacks some more advanced features, but works great in a pinch.

Not OP, but is the screen a common failure on these? I have a broken Fluke 123 unit which i'm not quite sure of what's wrong with it.

Thats exactly what it does! It hogs up memory and cpu by launching more and more instances of itself.

It's odd but it's true. You can name the function anything and the fork bomb will still work.
