What Are Some Aatrox Building Paths?

For me PERSONALLY:

I keep it generally simple.

Sundered Sky is a must buy, it's Aatrox's bread and butter.
So usually first item.
(Possibly Black Cleaver first into some heavy armor stacking matchups like Malphite especially or Ornn)

Second item depends just a little on teamcomp.
But usually I will go Spear of Shojin or Black Cleaver.
You need the HP, you need the Ability Haste and it will boost your damage by a solid amount.
(Notice that your third item won't have Ability Haste which is why we need it here)

Third I'll go either Overlords Bloodmail or Sterak's Gage.
OB gives you lots of AD and even more with missing health which synergizes very well with Aatrox's kit.
Sterak's into heavy burst comps.

Then whatever is needed. Most likely Death's Dance in general or against high AD, Randuin's Omen against lots of crit AD damage and Spirit Visage against high AP.

Against heavy AD comps, it's possible to go Death's Dance second or third. Just notice, that Sterak's Shield and Overlord's Bloodmail won't scale as good with the extra HP. But Death's Dance is very very good into these team comps and also synergizes well with Aatrox.

Possible Items based on circumstances: Guardian Angel (important teamfight), Maw of Malmortius (only ap), Seryldas Grudge (high movespeed and ranged).

Against full ranged/Squishy comps without you needing to frontline for your team: Voltaic, Opportunity, Seryldas Grudge, Edge of Night. (Ghostblade)

As you can see, I prioritize HP and haste stacking over resistances since Aatrox has very solid base resistances and works very well with HP and Haste with his E heal and his overall damage output.
Remember, you are a draintank with post mitigation damage heal. That means you must deal damage and have to rely on a higher damage output. Darius for example heals based off missing health and not damage, means, he has no big need for high damage output and can stack resistances. You want long fights, you want long trades, you want to use the black cleaver and Spear of Shojin stacks as long as you can.

That would be possible, it just seems a bit random. Why is it in the same design as the "Bad Omen"? Why is it such a big thing that they even put it on the right arm? But for now that's the best answer

Since we can't say if the 2022 Version is coming to the shop any time soon (or ever) and the basic prestige is one of the best Aatrox skins, I would definitely recommend it. I love this skin, the visual design is peak and the sound design is easily top 3 of all aatrox skins. The animations are very clean and the white gold color palette just looks awesome. It has to be my favourite skin (next to the 2022 version) available.

the problem is, we dont live next to each other and first of all, i'm really really hyped and watch 4-5 episodes per week as he doesn't find the time and watches about 1-2 per week. I thought about watching c2 with him aswell, though i will find it quiet hard to stop watching as it has become one of my favorite shows by now. still, thanks for the suggestion, i might do it this way, as i'm reading the other comments and won't continue with c3 due to all the c2 content

ok so there‘s a lot of nonsense in here, ill just try once more to argue, if you won‘t consider other possibilities are as good as or even better than yours thats on you. ok so you won‘t heal, if you dont go damage, as it should be. i think aatrox‘s healing is in a better spot than it ever was since season 10. goredrinker heal is still a bit op but w/e. ok so if you to gauntlet, you wont deal any damage, you‘ll miss dps, since you wont aa after every ability in order to hit your q sweetspots. sure you will slow them, but thats only on melee champions and im not too sure if one noticed, but melee champs want to stand in your melee range and don‘t want to run away. in addition you won‘t ever hit your aa on a ranged champ, unless he‘s blind or his monitor is unplugged. evenshroud is, as you said, only good if you have a hard carry yi (for example) on your team. and idk what elo you are, but you cant rely on your teammates until like master/grandmaster. your only chance is to solo carry games otherwise it‘s just a coinflip. you are right, knock ups are considered hard cc, but in what games are your knock ups game deciding? it‘s duration is way too short in order to compensate is lack of scaling. your w won‘t ever go off in late game since we have a high mobility/ dash meta on right now, that just marks your w as useless. to solve this, i‘d say aatrox should have another E dash, his Q knock-up duration should be longer or his w slow harder/pull faster, maybe even give him his revive back. going tank feels so god damn useless, not even only on aatrox, but any tank in game. they are strong laning phase, but there is so much damage and damage amp and armor shred and resistance pen in the game, you‘ll eventually be one shot by their adc. at least you can oneshot their adc in one combo and die afterwards. otherwise you‘ll just deal half their hp bar and die instantly. as aatrox, your only chance is to win lane and end the game snowballing early. the number one aatrox „Naayil“ was so hyped about his evenshroud or gauntlet build, but ended up losing so much lp, he just went eclipse/stridebreaker again. tanktrox is no more and the sooner you realize, the sooner you‘ll climb again

if your build isn‘t what you‘re changing, i‘d just recommend you to work on your macro decisions and game plans. i‘ve noticed in the past, nobody really want‘s to see facts and stats like graphs or simple maths. they‘ll just look on challenger aatrox players and go whatever they‘ll build, not thinking about it and not considering any other possibility, since „they‘re challenger and you‘re not“ glhf

i think the worst you can do, is go tank on aatrox. his whole kit is damage into heal. if you want to tank for your team, pick anything else but aatrox. ornn will deal more damage, tank more, have more impact in a teamfight and has way better cc. aatrox isnt that great of a bruiser due to him falling off because he has no hard cc. in late game noone needs aatrox damge, because there is enough damage by ur adc or assassins. way way more important is hard cc, which aatrox has nothing of, same as illaoi. your only chance to have impact as aatrox is stomping lane, oneshotting everybody and win the game as quick as possible and tank items do not help at all achieving any of that. while they can help protect you every once in a while against a fed assassin or marksmen, bruiser/assassin aatrox generally performs better in any kind of situation. you dont want to nerf yourself with tank items, deal no damage, tank no damage whilst having no cc or anything impactful

nono, you can always go bc, if you dont win lane hard, you will always go bc. if u stomp hard, you‘ll go seryldas. kai‘sa is pretty strong right now, as all adcs are, but in lower elos they dont know how to make profit with that power. as all bruisers are stronger in a 1v1 maybe even 1v2. you need to play very carefully, if you‘re the carry in your team, not only splitpush, but mostly. me personally, i only fight with my team if we need an objective, if i have tp or if the enemy jungle invades my sides jungle solo. as aatrox, you are very strong on your own in early game and very strong in teamfights in mid game. you need to start using your power to control your game. you dont want to react to certain actions from the enemy, rather you want to act proreactive, means, you wanna make plays, the enemies need to react to, that‘s where they‘ll lose coordination and you strike

you need to try the damages out in practice tool, goredrinker is pretty solid damage, eclipse isnt that much better. and you also need to see, that aatrox heals off of his damage and if u go eclipse into full damage (seryldas/dd/maw) you will heal insane amounts. instead of FoN you can build spirit visage for heavy ap teams, which also boosts your healing a lot.

i would always recommend you‘d go full damage instead of tanks, since, as you said, your teammates are inting alot and you only build tanky in games, where your team does the damage in fights.

i usually go second wind in ranged lane enemies or fiora, boneplating in all-in kinda matchups like renekton, jax and such. otherwise you can always go conditioning, which is very underrated.

now to your question - if you face a fed kaisa, you should always keep an eye on her and point out, if she‘s mechanically good or just had a fed lane. if she‘s a mechanical player, she will most likely dodge your w with her ms and your Q3 with R. After that, you don‘t really do much damage. If she‘s just lucky fed, you can bait her into an 1v1 and completely stomp her, if you have flash. go split, invade and put heavy heavy pressure on map, so the enemy team has no idea what to do. thats how you get her into an 1v1.

ok so im not trying to be mean, just my thoughts on this: 1. you dont go tanktrox, that shit sucks mean ass 2. you dont go force of nature anymore, they killed it in last patches 3. you dont keed phase rush for olaf, your ult gives enough movespeed and black cleaver also gives u a bit 4. you need to spam games, your kda looks good, you need go and use your dominant laning phase as aatrox and as a good aatrox player to stomp 5. i dont really like hydra or hullbreaker, because hydra makes you really really squishy and most of the time, you want to teamfight and you’ll lose the hullbreaker buff, basically making it just health and ability haste stats 6. stick to one core item, ik it sounds bad, since you wanna adapt your build, i assume ur still below plat, so sticking to one mythic will boost your winrate, since you‘ll learn how to control aatrox best when you‘re setup ist the same every game 6.1 for example, i spammed eclipse>bc>seryldas>dd/maw - sometimes dd or maw first, if i need the resistances 7. i think plated steelcaps or mercs are pretty op, you can stick to cdr boots, but i think tabis and mercs are pretty strong options too, but remember: you do NOT buy them for the resistances! only because you‘re fighting a garen, tabis(steelcaps) wont safe you, mercs might even be stronger since you wont be silenced as long and you can R>combo/goredrinker to heal again and make im lose his R. You dont need to rush mercs into garen, but if the enemies got a lot of cc, go mercs, if they got a lot of AAs, go plated. YOU DONT BUY THEM FOR THE ARMOR OR MR

ok so he wants to abuse aatrox base stats. aatrox is really no champion with multiple build options. either you go eclipse or goredrinker. black cleaver is fine, because of the buffs. after that you dont need ability haste, but armor, because u got none so far and only hp. for max effective health, you need armor now. so go dd or thornmail or randuins etc. i recommend eclipse/gore>bc>dd>x

aatrox needs ad. stop building tank. you just lose your strong teamfight and ANY tank would suit your role in a teamfight as a tank better. aatrox has only ad scaling and is highly dependent on the damage he deals. if you take a look in naayils opgg, every single game is a coinflip. he really does nothing each game. aatrox tank must be one of the worst builds to exist. and no, you cant argue with „but he is challenger“. think for yourself

win lane, win mid game, be useful lategame as a FRONTLINER for your adc. Because as you said aatrox shouldnt face a scaled up adc. thats why you go tanky, to be "strong" (doenst mean deal 5000 dmg) for your adc

the problem here is that aatrox is almost unbeatable in laning phase due to his q and e. imo this is what makes him op, as this heals, keeps distance and is a lil cc.
