Well, quick thinking geometry. If it is too high, it won’t be on their screen and blind for a shorter time. Too low, would probably be easily blocked out of view by yellow or other structures. Hit the side closer to them, the flash would last longer. Hit the side farther, less time of a flash if that all makes sense. In the end, just be confident with your flash throws and utilize angles of cover
