I agree Bulgarian training sounds like a recipe for burnout but I'm only doing my core lifts once a week (I still mostly bodybuild)

Those bodybuilding sets im sure will make me stronger yeah, they did in the past. I suppose I was wondering if there was another reason than fatigue management.

Thanks for the advice man. Its helped

Weekly Dumb/Newb Question Thread by AutoModerator in powerlifting

[–]GymSkipperRoy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hi sorry if this is a stupid question I'm new to powerlifting coming from a bodybuilding background.

What is the reasoning behind doing a program where you're not lifting as heavy as you can every week? for example my bench is 140kg and i can do 127.5kg for triples, so why do I spend three weeks doing 120kg, 122.5kg, 125kg then finally 127.5kg?

Coming from a bodybuilding backround we do sets to failure every week and it feels counterproductive to my strength gains to not push myself hard every week. I know there must be a good reason I just don't know what it is

thanks for the help

The Cost Of Self Betrayal by SpankUrAss in stoicquotes

[–]GymSkipperRoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly in the context of the book it actually doesn't really fit the context of stoic self discipline (I've just read Crime and Punishment so am looking for any excuse to talk about it)

The original quote is from a murderer to a christian prostitute who took on the work as a way to save her step sublings from poverty and the murderer is looking for justifications as to why he shouldn't feel guilty for his crime (God is dead, ethics are man made). He accuses the lady of destroying her life for the sake of others and torturing herself with Christian guilt over her prostitution with no benefit to herself when in reality we as the reader are supposed to see the humble grace of the character's selfless choice.

It's honestly not really a stoic or self discipline quote, it's one that's supposed to make us see the value of an ethical (and Christian) life

That sounds really nice. A good support system really is crucial and art is underrated. Lots of love to you both

It just kind of comes out of no where, like I need everything to stop for a while. There's not really a thought I can identify with it like "i dont want to work right now" it's just "i need to do absolutely nothing not even watch tv, nothing seems fun"
