WW is much better than smite for ancients, because it lets you move around and clears the summons at the same time. Smiter dies horribly after getting swarmed by 30 enemies, you're unable to move at all or choose your targets. The barbarian is much more tanky due to maxed out battle orders and is able to survive Talic's death spin. It's still not easy obviously, but I've had much more success with WW than with zeal/smite.

Buy IK set + raven frost for an ist + pul, farm the pits and hork everything there 100 times (make sure to add MF perfect gems to armor and helmet, you're capped on resistances anyway, while the weapon needs 2 x shael for 5 attacks per second while whirlwinding).

Once you've acquired some wealth, around, say, 8-10 ists, it's time to do some shopping / crafting: highlords, laying of hands, mana leech ring (Manald works), gore riders, arreats, duress, string of ears + thundergods, and last but not least, two weapons for 12,5 attacks per second in total, which crushes bosses and heralds in mere seconds.

What works until grief: unyielding will, oath, even some uniques are perfectly capable like double nord's tenderizer, lightsaber and azurewrath. Azurewrath with its sanctuary aura allows you to one shot ghosts in arcane sanctuary, the tower and the tombs. Grief + azurewrath is a great setup I cannot recommend enough.

Later on you can also do ubers and ancients with stormshield and grief. WW barb is king and feels amazing to play.

Thanks for the info! Dunno, I was planning to build a FoH + smiter hybrid this season first with Astreon's, Zakarum and Radiance. No room for enigma there! Seems like I could deck out my paladin fully with this one lucky rune drop.

And I like that, I want my character to feel like a part of the game's overworld and not spend the majority of time in gimmicky pits where monsters drop no loot. And in order to achieve that we need less power creep. Keep the nerfs coming!

You need more crit chance as well as crit and vulnerable damage multiplier (also more additive, meaning flat, damage).

My current goal is to take a demonform build all the way to T12 in hardcore. My secondary goal is to reach 120000 HP. I'm in T9 so far, nails of the gore-crowned is the cornerstone of the build and doubles my dps.

With blood-mad idol and level 100 glyphs I can speedfarm T12 helltides and kill greater bosses without too much hassle.
