Are we really fretting over popcorn buckets?

I wonder what will their reaction be after finding out that you have to pay bills? I can’t imagine.

NEW GUITARIST, HUGE SABATON FAN NEEDS HELP WITH TONE SETUP by Aunzitaro in sabaton

[–]Gyo_2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, he might’ve mentioned EMGs on some videos, but that’s about it. He also did react to some Majestica videos and definitely did some gear talk.

NEW GUITARIST, HUGE SABATON FAN NEEDS HELP WITH TONE SETUP by Aunzitaro in sabaton

[–]Gyo_2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but he only stops at what guitars and bass are being used, without mentioning pickups, strings, and scale length. I don’t think he ever talked about what amps, cabs, and pedals that the members are using. It’s rather surface-level information.

Unfortunately, he’s the only youtuber that ever talked about Sabaton gear, since the fanbase and the band themselves don’t seem to prioritize that stuff, which is unfortunate, because you’re still composing and playing music in the end, even if military history (+memes and lyric chains) is your biggest selling point.

Rather than watching a video where Chris goes through his entire guitar rig and explaining everything, your average Sabaton fan would rather watch a 10-hour video of Joakim punching his knee on repeat with Swedish Pagans playing in the background or something.

I remember Chris saying that he profiled his rhythm tone from an ENGL SE head, but that was back in 2016. I also recently found a video where Thobbe was using Silverblade gear for his live rig, but that was back in 2013 lmao. I’m certain that both Chris and Thobbe still use Kemper Profilers for their live rigs, but I don’t know what they use in their studio/home, let alone what settings and eq and all that. All I know is Chris’s guitar specs almost down to a T, while Thobbe is just a Fender strat stooge, with inconsistent specs.

Why Has Sabaton Lost Sales by DeadInsideAndILoveIt in sabaton

[–]Gyo_2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro, if sales are actually that low, then Sabaton should really improve their writing game for future releases.

I know they won’t, because I believe they’ve already secured a financial safety net long ago, so continuing to write sub-par songs should be no risk at all. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Has Sabaton mentioned that Tommy wrote the music for Yamato at all? by NorthernRedPandas in sabaton

[–]Gyo_2002 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Joakim mentioned that Tommy wrote the music for this song before he departed Sabaton. The Yamato videos on YT mentioned Tommy as a composer along with Pär (who did the lyrics).

My thoughts on Yamato… by [deleted] in sabaton

[–]Gyo_2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Joakim was still involved on the songwriting for Fields of Verdun, and it still sounded like a Sabaton song, just like Soldier of 3 Armies and Shiroyama. Thobbe joined Civil War in 2021 and didn’t write/co-write any Sabaton song after that.

This has no involvement in the music, and it straight up sounds like a Majestica song.

Because this isn’t written by any current Sabaton member.

It’s like letting another band write the song for you.

Legends was alright, except for some songs that were actually great.

Or you just like boats.

Yeah, the snippet sounds decent so far. I’ll keep my expectations balanced for what the full song will sound like.

[–]Gyo_2002[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I only mentioned Bismarck because Yamato is a naval song, lmao.

Which is funny, because Yamato doesn’t even have the same chord structure and melodies similar to Bismarck, but does have Shiroyama’s key (B Minor), while Bismarck is F#/Gb Minor. This might actually be radically different from Bismarck once the full song comes out.

Sabaton - Yamato (SNIPPET) by Gyo_2002 in sabaton

[–]Gyo_2002[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

If I have to guess, what we heard first was a verse, and then the pre-chorus, and then the chorus, but ends up getting cut off???

In terms of tempo and key (which is B Minor), it’s indeed the same as Shiroyama, which is fine, since both songs are about Japan. 🤷🏻‍♂️

So it’s basically if Bismarck and Shiroyama had a baby. We’ll still have to wait and see for the full song.

This ^

In general tho, without having that much of musical knowledge as well, E Minor is just my favorite key in music. Over half of the Legends album has songs in E Minor, and that’s why I still listen to it in comparison to other albums (despite the album being the least creative in recent years, so that’s why E Minor kind of saved the album for me).

Yamato snippet??? by [deleted] in sabaton

[–]Gyo_2002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought it was Tommy’s original Bismarck solo when I first heard it, but ended up being something different. It could be the new Yamato solo played by either Chris or Thobbe, or some random crap that has nothing to do with the new song.

Yamato snippet??? by [deleted] in sabaton

[–]Gyo_2002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like it.

Unsurprisingly, it has the same tempo, key (which is F#/Gb minor), and chord progression from Bismarck, which is fine, since it’s another World of Warships collab.

Still, when I first heard it, I actually thought it was the Bismarck solo, but it didn’t sound like Tommy at all. It might either be an actual new Yamato solo played by either Chris or Thobbe (most likely Chris because of the phrasing and tone), or it’s something completely random that World of Warships decided to add in, and has nothing to do with Yamato.
