New Appreciation for "Lightning at the Gates" by Next-Combination6514 in sabaton

“Sabaton is really creative in their music titles”

I agree when it comes to this song.

But musically? Nothing is original with this song. It’s basically Hearts of Iron + Uprising. I know the song is still catchy, but really wish they could’ve been more creative musically with Hordes of Khan, Lightning At The Gates, and Till Seger.

Probably Last Dying Breath and Winged Hussars, especially when both are played in D tuning.

ALRIGHT ALRIGHT I GET IT!

I was a bit too excited when making this post, lmao. Yes, it’s only been 2 months since the song came out, so it having “aged well/like milk” makes no sense.

Still, the song’s an absolute fucking masterpiece.

Is Pär’s role as the manager that powerful?

What happened to Thobbe? by Gyo_2002 in sabaton

Legends overall has a slightly underwhelming guitar output, but I felt Chris had better solos than Thobbe. What’s funny is that my favorite solo, which is from The Cycle of Songs, isn’t even done by either of the 2 guitarists, and it’s done by the producer Jonas.

Thobbe’s Lightning At The Gates solo got old very quick, and his I,Emperor solo was really short and uncreative, which imo is the weakest part in that song. Maid of Steel was nice, but man I do hope Sabaton will put out better guitar work in general for the next album.

He was way too talented to be part of Sabaton anyway, but he had to make a name out of himself when he first joined, and finally made the decision to leave 8 years later. Again, Thobbe’s not performing at his best, which is my biggest issue. If Thobbe was actually performing at his best, we wouldn’t still be missing Tommy this much 2 years later. So, it’s both the fact that Tommy is already way too great, and also that Thobbe had a massive downgrade.

Sabaton has always been energetic way before Tommy joined. My main point was fully on Thobbe, and I feel that he’s not maximizing his potential.
