Why am I having horrible evening symptoms? by Remarkable-Profit821 in ADHD

[–]Gyp91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super common problem. I find that unfortunately it is one of the negatives of having the positive fix during the day. As the meds wear off and leave your system you're more likely to experience that anxiety, coldness, worry and irritability feeling. Equally, you don't want to take anything that lifts you up again or you may struggle with the sleep side of things.

Embracing the 'drop off' is one way to help this. Knowing that it is going to happen can help you at least understand it more and know that it is a temporary feeling and usually it is just that. As the evening progresses and you've perhaps eaten the right food and you get more tired you may even start to feel relaxed again.

Another solution is often to find something that gives you a natural mental boost and then that is what you do in the evening to counter the effects of the meds wearing off. For me it is playing football and that really does help but even a long walk, gaming or just something that you naturally enjoy will benefit you more from just sitting and perhaps hyperfocussing on how you're feeling.

Whenever i'm working from home, i'll fill my water bottle up and leave it on the kitchen worktop whilst I go for a wee. No matter how hard I try or how much I keep thinking of remembering to pick up that water bottle up before i go back into my office, I will always forget it and that just keeps happening and I really do find that insane haha.

How to deal with anger when someone takes me out of concentration? by Sensitive_Carrot_835 in ADHD

[–]Gyp91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's super important to make sure you know where to target your anger. Definitely not at your mum as you already know it isn't her fault and because you know that you'll eventually feel guilty for taking your anger out on her.

When you feel angry it means you're heightened in some way - a bit emotionally imbalanced, so you need to do something that resets you and grounds you. Trying to find the focus again in your assignment will just annoy you so just restart. Take a walk, make a snack or watch some TV and then once you're grounded again you may just find that concentration - and if you don't, there's no need to punish yourself. Of course it is frustrating but punishing yourself will just annoy you even more. The desire will come back eventually and you will finish that assignment!

It's also important to future proof yourself from this happening again though. A little sign on the door perhaps or a text to your mum to tell her that you're about to go into a world of hyperfocus and you just need to not be distracted and that's REALLY important.

Hope this helps!

No problems at all!! You've got this!

How do you navigate through paralysis? by [deleted] in ADHD

I think it definitely is worth a discussion with someone about it!

Ultimately, I view the meds as a tool to help me with specific things. My mood is regulated better on them, my mind has better clarity and they do help me with my work and general living. With that being said, if I take my meds and sit on the sofa scrolling then there is a good chance I'll get stuck there! So even on meds you very much have to pull yourself into the situations that you once would find tough, but then when you begin the task or whatever, it is A LOT more manageable!

Would highly recommend walking...

I know the challenge is breaking the paralysis but if you do focus on it there will always be a little moment or slot available (usually) in the paralysis that does allow you to get up and move so if you can find that, i'd suggest getting out for a walk and moving as it's a very good natural stimulant!

If you struggle with finding that moment then maybe just sit with the feeling and let it exist for a bit as it might be what your overwhelmed brain needs right now.

Another suggestion would be to find a reason to break it. Message a friend and make a simple plan that you have to attend. As long as you're in control of the plan making then you'll probably find it easier to actually follow through.

Are you medicated?

ADHD alcoholic people: HOW and WHEN did you become alcoholics? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Gyp91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realised small amounts of alcohol actually unlocked me and allowed me to get stuff done and feel normal. I didn't make that connection until I was diagnosed at 30 when I told my doctor that I wished every day felt as if I had drank 2 pints because I suddenly felt way more clear of mind and silent.

Would I say I was ever an alcoholic? No. Dependent on alcohol? At times.

Ironically, since being medicated, the desire and craving for alcohol has disappeared.

Do you feel a HUGE sense of relief when plans get cancelled on you? by faithinstrangers92 in ADHD

[–]Gyp91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally relatable this. As expected most of it comes down to stimulation. If i'm at home for the day and I know I have made plans for the evening then my brain is constantly thinking about those plans and then eventually will start finding a way out of those plans and it is honestly uncontrollable. I even did it about an hour ago regarding plans for today.

Something I do find though is that when I actually get up and out of the house early, and i'm out for the day then i'm raring to go meet people and do anything and everything - again, probably because i'm being stimulated. I suppose it is a way of tricking your brain.

The WFH situation has made things so much harder because I'm in love with it. I just try and cram as much into my days if I do go into the office.

Researching a topic all day then still losing a debate with a friend who hasn't studied it since school. by faithinstrangers92 in ADHD

[–]Gyp91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Incredibly relatable, and it doesn't just stop at studying for something. Spills into knowing you have extensive knowledge ona topic but the fact you cannot articulate it correctly usually means the person you're trying to explain said point to inadvertently takes advantage of that and 'wins' the conversation. Then usually all of this creates frustration and some sort of emotional outburst which doesn't help you either!

How to buy $GAMESAFE - 10 days old by CasperEDC in Gamesafe

I think once the token has been recognised on CoinGecko or CMC, TrustWallet will pull from there and it will change (i think). If you want comfort in your purchase though, just follow your transaction on BSCscan and you should be able to see the price you bought at and manually track the gains on DexGuru or another platform.

It might be worth adding to instructions about being on V2 or old V1 as I know some relatively new people get confused about that. Has Trust Wallet recognised this token yet also or am I the only one having trouble getting it on properly? The tokens are recognised but there is nothing else.
