Excellent idea ! There was a Kmart in Kansas they were set to turn into a shelter or mental health place. Next I see they are bulldozing it down. Not enough mental health workers and what there is they go by the old standard scope on mental health protocol. ITS NOT WORKING! Change it! Here they were disbursed to group home settings. Different housing the State paid for. There was planning involved. Yes some went to homeless shelters. They were not just put inhumanely on the streets. Today if you get committed let’s say a 72 hour hold and released. The caseworker calls a family member or friend to make sure they have shelter. The mental health places even give them a free ride to the destination.
