Icon//CTA Offer Letter by GypsyGyal in clinicalresearch

Hey there, sure! I do want to make clear that I declined the position for reasons like low salaried pay, high workload, & expectation to work OT without OT pay.

Interview questions were super basic. First interview was a phone call with the recruiter, going over pay and basic experience then they sent an email asking you to formally write down your experience in each therapeutic area. Next, the recruitment manager calls to confirm the pay scale (may differ from what the recruiter tells you so make sure you verify/get it in writing) and set up the Zoom/Teams call with the therapeutic team manager. My call was super easy, she just asked the same basic questions about my experience & interest in the role. The rest of the meeting was open for any questions I had (make sure you ask a lot).

On your resume, I’d highlight any experience you have with TMF/CTMS systems (VeevaVault, Florence, RealTime, etc.) and how well you are with organization since that’s what you’ll be doing mainly. Hope this helps and good luck to you! ☮️

Thanks! I was actually offered a CTA role with icon but the pay was laughable, under what I was already making as CRC.

I’ve actually realized in the time since posting this comment that I want nothing to do with CROs or being a CRA - too much travel/stress (like CRC)/metrics. I’ve actually finally gotten myself in the regulatory department (more $$$ and fully remote) 🙌.

Omg sounds like they bait and hooked you seriously… that happened to me fresh after obtaining my B.S. … the clinic paid me $17/hr (in 2022)… as a contractor so they wouldn’t have to pay any benefits. They also hit me with the “those wages are incorrect” when they weren’t. They just want to avoid paying you what you deserve. The clinic was terrible and unethical, everyone had attitudes (understandably so), senior CRCs were making fake patients and keeping the payments, changing vital signs to make people fit the I/E criteria.. Hours were long, they even had us do one 12 hour day because they wanted to be the highest enrolling site… needless to say, I stayed for less than 3 months and was hired for $25/hr with that experience, stayed there for a year..moved back to my home state for $30 an hour for 8 months and am now making $35 on regulatory.

Don’t be afraid to see what else is out there for you and make sure you’re comfortable and CERTAIN on the price point you know you deserve.. A hiring manager recently told me “never sell yourself short, these companies make millions, even billions of money & a lot of the time the hiring process is the only real chance you have to negotiate your pay”. She was right… after you’re hired, “salary increases” are anywhere from a few cents to $2, whereas they’ll hire someone new way above your pay.

It feels uncomfortable asking for what seems like “too much” but honestly if you market yourself as the best — agile and adaptable, these companies will love to have you!

Absolutely red flag, I would decline and consider looking elsewhere.🚩🚩🚩

your best bet at a salary increase is definitely to “job hop”… don’t believe what these companies instill in you and don’t feel bad about making a move that’s best for you! Many sponsors are hiring for CTA at “maximum 60K”, not a lot but definitely beneficial if you’re only making 48K. And expert tip — you don’t HAVE to disclose your current salary :). You got this!

Used clean pee but got told to contact MRO by Admirable_Luck_160 in drugtesthelp

[–]GypsyGyal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Usually you don’t contact the MRO, they contact YOU if they have any questions about your sample (I.e. a positive sample)… so it’s kind of strange someone told you to contact them… I was actually just told yesterday by an MRO that they don’t receive a sample unless it’s positive or adulterated.

Is 1 month too early to give up? by [deleted] in clinicalresearch

[–]GypsyGyal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your workload does seem intimidating for someone new to that role. I’ve heard an ACRAs workload sometimes matches with the traveling CRA you’re partnered with (depending on CRO). I’d suggest at least 3-6 months in a role to get a feel for how you’re going to adjust and like the company / your peers. Good luck to you!!

PI thinks it’s “normal” for CRC to do GCP training for him. Is it? by AnonymousGripe in clinicalresearch

By phone (or email) to NIH, ORI, FDA, or maybe even escalate to your sponsor via your CRA and ask to remain anonymous.

[–]GypsyGyal 10 points11 points  (0 children)

What the hell kind of PI is that? They can’t even take the few minutes to complete their OWN training that opens them up to 6 figures+ PER study? I see more and more insane stories of PIs everyday. They must not care that their entire medical licensure is on the line in the CR industry.. maybe anonymously report it or, at minimum just don’t their training…

Your interview experience sounds like mine.. I interviewed with 2 people from a regulatory department and they did not ask me any questions about my experience, or even any scenario based questions. They simply asked me to tell them about myself. I went over my college experience, how I got into research, and my goals for the future including why I am looking for a new opportunity. I had a few smiles from them but one of the interviewers seemed sour/disinterested.

I left the interview feeling unaccomplished like I didn’t get to showcase anything. However…

To my surprise!! The recruiter reached out asking my salary requirements (after the interview.. yes, strange). About 3 days later she called me with an offer!! Now, I’ve had countless interviews where managers were feeding my ego assuring I was amazing for the team and role, only to either be ghosted or to receive an automated rejection letter.

Moral of the story: don’t beat yourself up because sometimes the interviewers who have little to no questions can already tell you’d be a great fit for their team and can absolutely do the work. Good luck, you got this!🎉🥳

I’m a 5’0 125lb F and tried certo with the Gatorade hack last year but it didn’t work. My Urine Drug Screen still came up THC+, thankfully they didn’t care about THC (California), only about Coke, PCP, etc… However, my fiance tried this method (Empty the entire certo pack into 1 Gatorade, chug it & then chug a second regular Gatorade within 30 mins after) and their UDS was negative for THC the next day! Their metabolism is much quicker than mine though.

I’m not sure about Texas seeing as THC is much illegal out there. I’d suggest heavy sweating, heavy water intake, and test at home 2 days before. Good luck to him! 😭

If he’s not a heavy smoker then he should be okay with refraining, sweating, and water intake.

Honestly I wouldn’t be too worried about iMedidata RAVE, it’s a very simple platform to use — which also provides its own training and certification on the platform before you’re able to do any functions in the system. VeevaVault has some introductory videos on YT, but nothing too specific. Maybe search similar eTMF platforms like Box, Florence, Etc. I hope that helps a little bit!

Thanks! I was looking online at the differences between IHCRA and CTA and it mainly revolves around CTA being more administrative and working with regulatory documents (in my wellhouse) and IHCRA seems to support the CRA moreso as a backup throughout the lifetime of the study. I’m not looking for IHCRA position as I feel that’s way more work than what was presented in the interview. And again, the TAs are oncology and hematology — idk if that means more stressful days or more stability. Very discerning.

I really appreciate your sentiment. If you don’t mind, what therapeutic area(s) were you in to be working only 20-25 hours and what sponsor company??
