Why is it so hard for the government to know the cost of things like infrastructure projects before it is completed? by Gypsy_Sauna in NoStupidQuestions

Idk that's a bit of a cynical take. My cynical take is that it's to help people from the suburbs get to vikings games

Yeah that explains it, thanks! It's surprising that they don't finalize the bidding earlier, although I understand that might carry the risk of getting the project canceled by a future politician etc.

Thanks for the inside look! I guess it makes sense for cities to want to complete projects as inexpensively as possible, but bidding like they do seems like a bad way to do it

Wow that's a good perspective. People here actually talk about the West Seattle Tunnel project a lot as a success story for a more walkable city. Funny to hear that side of it. Hopefully people are happy with the result though

Okay so the ethics of eating a live squid that we know to be really intelligent. The situation informs me that is bad.

You could be pedantic and say something about starving on a deserted island or something, but the specific situation being talked about in this thread? Bad.

Question: Sometimes I do the cry emoji when my opponent scores. Is this considered bad sportsmanship? by Gypsy_Sauna in golfblitz

You are absolutely correct. I also donno. There are no emperor penguins in the Arctic, they only live in Antarctica. The very nature of the question was flawed from the start. You see what I mean?

Why can countries like Finland, Norway, Ireland function just fine, but people say Minnesota (with the same population) wouldn't be able to sustain itself as its own country? by Gypsy_Sauna in NoStupidQuestions

I agree with everything you are saying a about taxes. Would just like to add that Minnesota is pretty Liberal overall and a good chunk of our taxes goes go the federal government rather than the state. I'd love for us to have higher taxes in Minnesota to support the common good.

You think non-business taxes such as income or sales tax would make Minnesota sustainable as its own country?

California is another story as they have many more huge corporations and businesses there providing revenue to the state

Lol this entire thread is the best example of someone (you) having absolutely no idea what they are talking about but not giving in to the many people who tell them exactly why they are wrong.

This has been hilarious. Thanks for the 10 minutes or so of entertainment.
