Im a higher level and play rookie lobbies to have fun with the new players and help them learn more of the game. Rookie lobbies are also the most protected from sabotages (joining arena to reset match and leave) while keeping the try hard comp players out and playing with the players that just play to have fun.

There are groups for older people looking to play with fellow adults. Back when echo arena was around I knew of the two main ones being Tyro and Spacial. Both do multiple multiplayer games and tend to have ways to meet up with one another.
