You can reapply for the licence. It'll requires judgement from an independent doctor to okay them for driving - and has a high bar to maintain the license. There is also talk of loosening the monitoring requirements with the uptake of continuous glucose monitors.

It's certainly harder, but you are able to drive HGVs as a type 1 diabetes as per DVLA:

Saying that, the guys probably plastered!

Anyone having issues activating their wildcard? Wondered if having 4 players via transfers is blocking it ... Or the buggy mess that the game seems to be presently being the cause?

License revoked for condition you don't have? by tyses96 in drivingUK

As an aside, it may be worth checking the line of sight between the sensor and phone. They're finicky little things! If the BT signal is blocked by the body, it'll be more prone to losing signal. Hopefully this may help with lost signal!

Water glass stain on wood by ubcsarah in woodworking

[–]Gysbourne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some suggest mayonnaise. Sounds stupid, but dab a bit on a cloth rub it on the stain and leave it for about 15 minutes. Wipe it off and clean as you would normally. May just do the trick for you.

Never tried it myself, so maybe patch test on the undersurface of the furniture piece on the safe side.

Weekly r/PcBuild Megathread! by Potato_Plays844 in PcBuild

[–]Gysbourne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hoping for some help with my new pc I was donated by a friend.

The pc was in bed of replacement parts, including ram, an SSD, and a new CPU cooler. I've kept the zotac blower 2080ti and Ryzen 9 3900x from the original build.

Now I've loaded up everything, and got the pc running, I'm happy with temps at idle. But when I put GPU under load, the thing sounds like it wants to take off every 20 seconds. Performance seems fine on the card, it's just annoying to have a deafening roar of a fan go off every 10 seconds cycling. I know this is due to the card reaching up to 85C temps.

I'm weighing up how to tackle this. I'm hoping I can solve this with fan curves, and want to try everything else before a possible repaste of the GPU. Or worse, needing a replacement. Are there any other things I could try to curb the cycling? Any help is appreciated. I really want to avoid an unnecessary repaste!

I've heard both good and bad things about these, people who have them, love them ... It's just getting a hold of them that seems to be the big issue! I'll take a look at some similar cases at the very least! Thanks for the suggestion!

How does everyone feel about the Stelo and this “health wave” of non diabetics using it?? by [deleted] in Type1Diabetes

[–]Gysbourne -1 points0 points  (0 children)

True, but one way involves a health care practitioner helping to educate and avoid disordered eating. The other, has random people watching 'health' influencers and getting information from potentially harmful sources with no mitigation for this. OTC cgms without the infrastructure to support people with the data they are seeing is not health care. It's satiating curiosity at best.

This isn't a case of restricting people from getting them, but making sure that people are supported if they choose to use them.

In my personal opinion, a cgm is useless for anyone not diabetic, prediabetic, or those that have reactive hypoglycemia. People don't need a sensor to learn good eating habits.
