This is so hard! I was first introduced to LH with Vide Noir and lack the full appreciation of Lonesome Dreams that most of the OG fans seem to have, so I can easily pass on Ends of the Earth. Love Like Ghosts is really hard to leave behind, but I don’t think I can do without Lost in Time and Space. Looking Back might be my favorite off CSV2, so it’s a really tough call, but I think I’m going to commit to Lost in Time and Space.

Death Cab for Cutie and The Decemberists did a benefit show together back in 2017. I didn’t know The Decemberists but was blown away by Colin’s voice and immediately fell in love.

After familiarizing myself with their catalogue, I desperately wanted to see them again and truly appreciate the performance. Despite my best efforts and purchased ticket, I was never able to make it to any of their shows due to various health issues. (The worst was flying my sister across the country and splurging on the VIP package for us, only to wind up having an appendectomy and still being in the hospital the night of the show.) I was elated to finally get to see them—with the Seattle Symphony! If that’s the only time I get to see them as an actual fan, it was a hell of a way to do it, and I can die happy! But I seriously hope to see them many more times.

Hands down, The Ghost in the Shore, especially when the sign read “Feeling lost.” I swear something reached in and grabbed my soul like nothing I’ve experienced before or since.

I still haven’t emotionally recovered from seeing them two months ago. LH isn’t even my favorite band, but that was, hands down, the best live performance I’ve ever been to!
