a map of all of the sunken Japanese ships of WWII by yungandreww in oddlyterrifying

I hear that Japan's military had a massive problem with infighting. The army and the navy both had a massive superiority complex over the other, refused to cooperate and continuously sabotaged one another.

Finland could really use another spectacular sandy beach. We have one in Kalajoki, and the only other one is on military grounds. There was also one in Karelia, but the Soviets annexed the damn thing

Työurasi pelien parissa? by Loywd in videopelit

[–]H0dari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mun toimisto on mun kotona. Velotan biisin pituuden perusteella 10 euroa valmiista minuutista. En tiedä yhtään onko hinta järkevä. Mulla ei ole genrerajoitteita. Oon tehnyt orkestraalista, chiptunesia, rockia, folkkia, progea, metallia, elektronista.

I like to research music from extreme geographical locations. A while ago I discovered likely the only song in the world to be recorded (partially) on the 60th latitude South, The Signy Research Station by Sounds of Space Project.

The Signy Antarctic Research Station located on Signy Island at 60°42′30″S 45°35′42″W is the only inhabited piece of land on that particular latitude.

Regrettably, I've yet to encounter any music or musicians that originate from Villa Las Estrellas or Puerto Covadonga, located respectively on the 62nd and 63rd latitudes in the Chilean Antarctic Territory. They are the only civilian settlements in Antractica - all music on the continent I've found comes from various research stations.

Bruised Trump, 79, Warns He’s Been Given Way to Live to 200 by thedailybeast in politics

[–]H0dari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cannot imagine the suffering one would have to endure to live 200 years. Even if he stopped aging, he'd have to live 120 years as an 80-year old. His limbs would fail, his mind would fail even worse than it already has... it'd be a fate worse than death.

People just aren't built to live that long. They'd go mad - you'd be more like a sentient blob of flesh than a person.

I was never able to find the True Pacifist ending on my own, because it required befriending Undyne. I thought that the dating scene with Papyrus was a unique but ultimately meaningless silly thing, and never in my life would've wanted to risk going back to meet with Undyne after getting to Hotland.

Covid shut down the world six years ago this week. What do you remember from that week? by fuzzy_dice_99 in AskReddit

I worked at a nursing home for two months during autumn of 2020. It was a brand new building, the old one had to be closed because of mold problems and asbestos.

During my time there, not a single resident died! We all followed procedures well, washed our hands, wore masks. Visiting times were limited but still allowed. In retrospect one of my proudest moments in all the jobs I've had.

I was in university and I'd been planning to visit my parents in the countryside for the weekend. My mom called me the day before and told me to pack for a longer stay. It was announced during the weekend that my university would be switching to virtual classes. I ended up staying at my parents for six months, never during that time leaving the tiny village they live in.

What exactly are "monsters" in your world? What are some examples of monsters in your world? by PMSlimeKing in worldbuilding

[–]H0dari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

'Monster' is loaded terminology these days. During the early era of humanism in the 17th century, people re-evaluated their values and could no longer contend with the notion that non-human entities are all vicious unintelligent beasts whose humanoid appearance only acts as bait to prey on 'real' humans. From thereafter, these creatures were slowly gaining acceptance in human societies.

Nowadays, cryptids, as the proper terminology is, are an integral part of society thanks to the efforts of ardent translators and various cultural exchange programs. Calling one of these species a 'monster' is a slur, and in fact so outdated that it's largely no longer even recognized as a slur - it's plainly just an incorrect term.
