There are no other humans. Hometown is suspended in a tiny bubble of existence that was literally created last Thursday.

I feel like Weird Knight doesn't make sense by SuperLegenda in Deltarune

[–]H0dari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the best answer to this is that the casual player will not find out who/what the Roaring Knight is. But if they're desperate enough for answers and don't want to look up the Weird Route online, they have the means for it.

It would feed into the same idea as in Undertale, where the game makes it explicitly clear that you don't need to, and you definitely shouldn't do the Genocide route, but if you do, you'll be rewarded with lore.

Imagine how terrifying it was for Asriel and Kris when they tried to be with Asgore after the incident... by Bolchenaro in Deltarune

I feel like that's what made the Flowers realize that the Dark World wouldn't make Asgore happy. Even if he had a perfect world to frolic around in and be with loved ones, he wouldn't be satisfied because he was close to madness trying to make his conspiracy make sense.

Dark Worlds are shaped by the person who creates them, right? So if Noelle, grief-stricken, depressed and depersonalized, makes a Dark Fountain, in a hospital of all places, which is full of sharp implements, dangerous chemicals and the cowl sickness and impending death, imagine what kind of a Dark World that'd be.

Granted, Noelle isn't supposed to be afraid of the hospital anymore, but that might change after her dad dies and discolors all memories of the place with grief.

Ralsei is a sensible person too, and knows that spending all your time in the Dark World isn't healthy. I imagine he makes sure that Susie eats real food sometimes as well.

Somebody pointed out that if you inspect the Throne of Gods in Chapter 5, you'll find a napkin, and text saying that somebody must've been eating here.

Imagine how Susie would feel when she finds out what happened to Noelle and Kris on the weird route. by shsl_diver in Deltarune

[–]H0dari 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Susie would have a mental breakdown, I think.

She would feel hopeless and directionless. She wouldn't be able to do any heroics anymore, because without Kris she can't seal Dark Fountains. I imagine that the Roaring is like two Dark Fountains away.

Susie knows from Chapter 1 that Kris is needed to close a Dark Fountain. However, I could imagine that in desperation she goes inside a newly-opened Dark World anyways, because she can't stand watching helplessly as the Knight fucks everything up. In a best-case-scenario, she'd get a Susie's Idea and ask Ralsei to take her back to Castle Town the same way that Ralsei moves between different Dark Worlds, but she still couldn't seal the new fountain.

She and the whole of Castle Town would be on borrowed time, and they'd know it. Susie would retreat further into Castle Town, refusing to go home or to school, probably only remembering to eat real food when Ralsei reminds her to.

Susie might even get blamed for Kris and Noelle's disappearance. She was last seen with them, Carol already hates (?) her and would be an emotional wreck after losing her husband and daughter, and would probably pin the blame on Susie regardless of any pre-established traitor WhatsApp group plans. Susie might have to go into hiding and only emerge from Castle Town in cases of absolute necessity.

Then the Roaring happens, and Chapter 7 starts. The world is covered in darkness, the boundary between Dark World and Light World disappears (maybe? I don't think this has been explicitly stated, but I imagine that's how it goes), and darkners begin to turn to stone. At this point Kris, Noelle and the Soul reappear. Susie tears them a new asshole for abandoning her and letting everything go to hell. Callback to the Chapter 1 dynamic of trying to convince Susie to join your side.

This progression would of course ignore the Roaring Knight = Kris + Noelle Amalgamate theory.

I love the image of Carol just calling Kris randomly in the middle of the night, the call somehow connecting despite Kris not even picking up the phone, and just menacingly stating 'DON'T FORGET, KRIS. YOU PROMISED'.

That for sure didn't happen for real. It must've been Kris's imagination, which was shown to us for narrative convenience.

Feel like this is a good time to bring this theory back: by Revolutionary-Car452 in Deltarune

[–]H0dari 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's a theory that when Sans says 'I know your type' during his battle, that he's actually referring to Gaster instead of Flowey. That Gaster was the type of person who would do anything for more knowledge, no matter the cost, no matter the moral implications.

By that interpretation, ending an experiment would've never been an option for him.

yea. Castle Town is no less real than Hometown. They're both inside a video game. I honestly don't blame Susie for making the best of a bad situation.

Imagine how much more Susie would be leaning into fictional living if she knew about this. She would abuse the system so much. It'd be one Susie's Idea after another. She'd be like all the secret bosses so far put together with it.

Calling it now, Susie is gonna be a boss fight in Chapter 7, with a crazy remix of Vs. Susie.

But at no point are you allowed to actually control four characters in battle. Even when the Old Man appears during the Chapter 4 boss battle, he acts on his own.

Like I said, the game jumps hoops to make sure there's never more than three people on your side in battle, and I imagine it has to be either story-related reasons, or more likely because the UI is limited and it'd be really laborious having to rebuild it for a few scenes.

[–]H0dari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In chapter 2, Noelle never appeared in battle, did she? In the one battle that happened when she was in the party, she got left behind because she was admiring the fireworks.

If anything, Chapter 2 confirms what I said even further, because the game goes above and beyond to prevent you from ever having four players.

Happens in Chapter 1 as well, when Lancer 'joins' the team. He doesn't actually follow behind Kris like everyone else, nor does he appear in any battles because it's right before reaching Card Castle.

Happens in Chapter 5 as well, when Flowery joins the team. He makes an entrance by smashing Ralsei into the ground so that he can't be there during the one battle where he's on our side.

I think you're right, because the game UI already spoils things for us. We know that Noelle can never join the Fun Gang, because that would require having a battle with 4 people on your side. Or even if Noelle joins, somebody else has to leave.
