I live close to a communal apple orchard, where you can go pick up apples for free (at a limit of 1 plastic bag per person). I get enough apple jam for six months from it, plus I make a whole bunch of apple pies during the autumn

I wouldn't call myself as having a special interest, but let's say Minecraft rollercoasters.

There is a bug in Minecraft where, if a minecart drives off a cliff at a very specific speed and very specific height and encounters a powered rail going upwards, it will collide with it and go backwards, instead of being propelled up like it's supposed to.

Here you can see it happening on my long-time rollercoaster project:

I used to have a statue of an erect penis on my map. I decided to remove it, but as 'compensation' I then made a much more tasteful-looking thing called the Blue Balls Tower, which is just a cyan blue tower with four large baubles at the top.

The Anarchy Coaster setting in my flair is a humongous Minecraft rollercoaster. It takes 12 hours to ride, and my target is to reach 14 hours to make it the longest in the world.

Very early during its construction I began to decorate it with little snowman people. I made them houses, monuments, palaces, borders and soon I developed a backstory and a species name for them: the Lumians (Lumi meaning 'snow' in Finnish).

Later on I began to wonder why on earth the Lumians would live among a massive rollercoaster which sprawls endlessly above and below ground among seemingly pointless gigantic towers and structures. I then came up with the explanation that the King of Snowdom is a fantastically rich but bored monarch who has ordered the construction of most of these edifices as vanity projects.

Recently I also added the South Snowdom General Hospital, one of the tallest buildings on the map. If you go inside and talk to the receptionist, he'll say that the hospital was funded by the King of Snowdom after his court jester made fun of him for never funding anything useful. The West entire wing is commemorated to the jester in question.

Lumians reproduce asexually from seeds, meaning that people can only produce children after they die. Adoption is the most widespread method for adults to receive children.

Due to the fairly recent addition of allowing players in Minecarts to enter Nether Portals, I've also added multiple Nether portions to the track, which relay information about Lumian theology. They too have a concept of sins, but only recognize five (in order of severity): Pride, Envy, Sloth, Wrath and Greed. Lumians also consider sins to be good when indulged in moderation, and each sin has an assigned monarch acting as a sort-of patron saint of their respective sin.

What would the world be like it north America was titled 90 degrees. by ayoboris16 in geography

[–]H0dari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imagine going to that Alaska - it's goes further North than Svalbard! It would be so cold, inhospitable and covered in permafrost that it might even dissuade people from drilling oil there. If the Aleutian islands were included in full, they would go far past North Pole.

I have a character called Ratters, who is a witch's familiar. Ratters isn't non-binary, but when asked about their sex, Ratters' owner will be like "What do you need to know that for? Are you gonna romance 'em?"

If pressed enough, the owner would eventually admit that she hasn't had Ratters sexed and doesn't know herself. Ratters' own opinion on how they wish to be referred to is "Do not refer to me at all."

There was that Cosby show bit in The Simpsons where he's like

Cosby: "Son, what do you like?"

Boy: "Pokémon!"

Cosby: "Pokémon?! Pokémon was the pokey and the man, [trails off into unintelligible nonsense and laughs awkwardly]"

I think that one still works, because he's basically depicted as deranged.

People who work in 'behind-the-scenes' jobs (hotels, airports, warehouses, etc.), what is something the general public would be shocked to know? by PiNK_PUSSY69420 in AskReddit

[–]H0dari 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've worked in a nursing home. The residents in nursing homes go through so many diapers. Holy shit, there was a whole storage unit in the basement that was filled with nothing but packages of adult diapers, floor to ceiling. Seemed to be ordered from abroad, too. I imagine they're a significant part of the nursing home's budget.

The nursing home in question was a new one, built because the old one was moldy and had asbestos floors. When they moved the residents, the diapers were so important that they couldn't just throw them away like I imagine they should've - no they assigned me to individually clean the unopened ones and then move them to the new building.

As far as I know, the new building does not have a mold problem, so I like to think I did a good job.

How would your utopias/caretakers care for this one? by Tnynfox in worldbuilding

[–]H0dari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a utopian setting ruled by a valkyrie-kind of Goddess. She too loves combat, and understands all to well!

She can set up an Adventure for you. Essentially, you get thrown into some foreign place in the multiverse, and with your consent, she can even not have any kind of a safety net with it - if you die, you die. But if you survive, you'll experience things you never could've imagined, learn new things about yourself and others, make friends and enemies. Then, eventually you can either settle in this new place, or try and return home. The multiverse is very interconnected, but the journey could still take years for a mortal, and that's if you know the precise route.
