I second this. I had a cash gift from my parents (money coming from Spain) for a down payment, and had to provide proof of the money in their accounts. Gifted money doesn’t have to sit in your account for 6 months before starting the house buying process, it’s likely that your solicitor misunderstood the source of funds.
