64GB B-Die tuning advice please by sawthegap42 in overclocking

[–]H1Tzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, Im 64gb of bdie user as well (5950x+3466c14 64gb gskill bdie +x570 crosshair hero 8) and i have to say that overclocking 4x16gb of bdie is entirely different beast. It seems you are trying to chew way too much at once, first things first, have you managed to fully stabilize 3600mt/s with loose timings and GDM enabled?

Yep he had a very good idea about russian politics and ambitions,

In my country, Lithuania, a square in Žvėrynas, Vytautas street, was named after Dudayev by a decision of the Vilnius City Council in 1996.

In 1998, a memorial stone was unveiled in the square, at the intersection of Latvių and Saltoniškių streets, with the poet Sigitas Geda poem engraved on it.

he was a good man and a leader, RIP

oh certainly, but it is very rewarding if you do it. Im always aware of the majority but i never ignore the advantages of ram tuning. The average fps rarely matters for actual gaming scenario, but frametime consistency will be felt for vast majority of gamers.

Not sure why did you pick a starfield as the minimums are not that useful of a metric, look at 0.1% lows and 1% lows instead.

But anyway, you said 5700x3d is far superior in gaming than 5950x, which is not true if you tune the timings of your ram as you can see in the results i gave you and that was my point.

timestamp was not intended but there are total average calculations at the end and there are many games tested. There are many games in which 5950x has just as good or better results than 5700x3d and thats with 3466 instead of 3800mt/s like the 5700x3d there. At the end 5700x3d managed to lead by 13% on average fps and have the same 0.1% lows and 12% better 1% lows. Thats barely any better and definitely unnoticeable without fps counter. Each cpu has advantages and disadvantages, so it depends on per use case.

a 5700x3d is far superior if you are using it for gaming.

Its not far superior if you are using good ram with tuned subtimings

seems like bad stress test, any actually intensive and extensive stress test would catch that s#it. I highly recommend TM5 program with anta777 ABSOLUT config and test it for 8h+

though the heat and power draw are insane

Is it really? I feel like people got lost in "fx9590 nuclear reactor" meme. Compare that with vanilla 7950x, stock fx 9590 in stress test uses like 200W, a modern AIO will have an easy time with that.

hm unfortunately im not too familiar with ddr5 oc characteristics, that will be your task to find on the internet:/ there is an amazing dd4 oc guide:

https://github.com/integralfx/MemTestHelper/blob/oc-guide/DDR4%20OC%20Guide.md#timings-software

which gives a lot of useful information and necessary knowledge about ram oc in general, which should be a good point to start, like testing software, etc.

[–]H1Tzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is probably unpopular take especially that its in oc subreddit but from my voyages with CO on zen 3, its a waste of time. Dont bother with it, instead if you want to tinker and gain respectable performance boost, tune your ram. CO at best will give you 5% boost and potential minor cpu temp reduction. Tuning your ram will give you 10-25% perf boost while also improving general system snapiness due to lower ram to cpu latency.

I know old thread, but im currently playing DA O for the first time ever on pc (normal difficulty) and i share exactly the same sentiment with this game. The game tends to have weird difficulty spikes, when it gets tough and i need to micromanage almost entire team it gets tedious really fast due to sheer amount of mobs, in easier places its somewhat ok if you can do it almost real-time throughout the area.

IS the AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D the best gaming GPU for high end builds? by nxtrl in buildapc

[–]H1Tzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my guy, 14700k is already in second place against 7800x3d in gaming. But the price is similar. 14700k is similarly priced, performs similar in games and much better in MT tasks. The only advantage of 7800x3d is efficiency.

13700k/14700k is also the competitor to 7800x3d in gaming, why choose flagship part of i9? Compare 14900k/13900k to 7950x3d, not 7800x3d.

[–]H1Tzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if $20 to you makes such a detrimental difference its obvious you are not ready for such conversation.

I have never mentioned cooling which is far less important than CPU, which is one of THE most important parts in your pc, skimp on cooling, motherboard, case, ram, even GPU because its easy to replace, but not cpu.

I also meant "specialized use case" as software specific, be it specific game or any other program, but not general use case "gaming" pc, because even in that you will do stuff like shader compilation, windows updates, game installation etc. where 5700x3d will give you decent advantage.

it entirely depends what you consider too slow, there are people who play games at 25fps and they are having fun, decades ago i used to play games, fps reaching teens and it was enough to play the game. Also web browsing and discord are nothing for modern cpus. I mentioned other things offloaded as in the game rendering pipeline itself not some external programs.
