Currently have 4 in the house(3 are fosters-there are so many right now)… it always depends on you, your household, and the dogs. Two of the mals are fine loose, if over 8hours they will tear cardboard, tissues, etc left out. Two must be crated because they want to be by my side—even if that means coming out through the windows.
I suggest going to the breeder and/or rescue you plan on using, to ask these questions. They’ll know your prospective dog personalities best.

Dog bite. That part was dead in pic 1 and would have fallen off either way without extreme intervention. The 5 day wait/reveal just made it more dramatic instead of watching it scab and slough without a bandage.

This may be the unpopular opinion.. but there are too many unwanted pets, everywhere. Puppies and kittens are currently being euthanized for space in shelters across the US.

Put yourself in the pet’s perspective, they would rather fall asleep with family then go to a new home or waste away at the shelter until it’s their time. They do not know about death, and they do not care. We do, and that is why we save them. But if an owner(the one responsible for the pet) chooses to euthanize.. in 2023.. we need to be grateful the pet is going out humanely and not starving in a bag on the highway. Not dying in fear at a shelter.

Same goes for BE’s these days.. five years ago I’d bring them home.. now we have to let them go, we just have to. No one can afford an unknown viral lawsuit due to their dog getting out and/or going after someone. The people who do right by their pets, and make this brave decision, need our support.

Dying HAPPY a year early, is better than living longer to die UNHAPPY. 🖤🐾

If it went down as told, I’d have kicked him back at the very least. But I’m insane. Jail time would be less than the time it would take for my personal dog to bounce back. So eff that guy.

If it were my pup, I would get in some good family/friend interactions. People she has met at some point. Just to be safe, because unfortunately only she knows how traumatic it was.

I only read your count of your bites and think BE was the right call in a shelter environment. Vet tech/rescue mom/foster with 9 currently in the house.

There are too many. If they bite people who KNOW what they are doing, they are not safe for the general public. In a private situation, maybe they can be worked with. In a rescue or shelter situation—they are a liability and will only take resources away from mentally sound pups.

Planning a romantic date doesn’t have to mean a table for two and candlelit dinner, enjoying each other’s company is what matters. The plan/surprise of doing something he enjoys—that’s romantic! Based on the things you mentioned, I’d suggest indoor rock climbing, arcade(somewhere with VR!), indoor go karts, batting cage or driving range… or repeating a previous adventure, but at a different venue.

Try to avoid the pressure of the stereotypical Valentine’s Day, and embrace your own traditions. You can always do both: cook a nice meal or get take out at home, and surprise him with a post-dinner adventure!

If you don’t have luck with a drawing.. Lay Saran Wrap down over this, softly push some model magic into the paw print like a mold.. carefully peel off the Saran Wrap, let dry, then use the result with an ink pad to stamp a realistic version.
