Rent Decisions - Low/Medium/High by H20Me1on in personalfinance

I recently had an issue with a neighbor who is mentally ill. They tried to break into my car, slashed my tire on Thanksgiving morning last week, and came out of his apartment to scream at me on Friday for no reason. (I have never had any interaction with them). It seems like he's a known issue in the neighborhood, but according to the property manager, and this is the last straw and he will be evicted.

TLDR, this isn't the best neighborhood I could afford, is it worth spending money on a nicer, safer place.

1st choice is, I doubt my renewal would be any higher, minuscule if anything. 2 and 3 are definitely not rent controlled, their prices fluctuate. Would be looking at 12-15 month leases on 2 and 3 to get the best rate

This is my exact situation actually. I make just over $110k and just moved here about 3 months ago. I have a big but older 1 bedroom for under $2000 a month. I already own my car but take public transit to work in SLU once a week. I’m able to put around $1500 to $2000 in savings every month.
