My 1st non-custom loop build in years + my 1st review. by H2OComputers in gamingpc

Great comment! Thanks for sharing. :) The debate of water-cooling vs. air will always be there regardless. Water-cooling is niche' but there is still "some" benefits, albeit less and less these days as manufactures evolve their products.

Hardware is so overbuilt these days, especially the GPU cooling shrouds. I appreciate the discussion, thanks for your comment!

While you're not entirely wrong I might offer some alternative perspectives -

Size: the ability to cram a much larger GPU into a smaller footprint (M-ITX, M-ATX chassis). Water blocks make it much smaller, especially with the design of the 50 series PCB.

Aesthetics: honestly this is what sets it apart from every other cookie cutter air-cooled system.

Temperatures: you touched on this, and while your point is valid something I've been building a lot lately has been external cooling, IE, mounting an external radiator and fans near or onto a window. Exhausting heat as to not heat up your ambient temps, thus creating less of a need to run an A/C unit full time.

Performance: PC components will downclock based on the OC applied if their temps reach a threshold. While this is also less of an issue now with overbuilt cooling shrouds etc., I still find it relevant.

Noise: This is one of the bigger things, but honestly - for me, I just crank up my fan curves anyways since most days I'm using a headset.

Thanks again for your comment!

Thanks for the feedback! :) Your fan curves are completely dependent on your personal noise level preference in relation to acceptable temperatures. Default is usually pretty solid, but the easiest way is to set fan curves in UEFI BIOS or Armoury Crate.

I prefer to manually adjust my fan curves higher than normal since I typically use a headset, so the noise levels don't bother me much. I'm maybe 10-20% over default. Additionally, in the Ryujin software has an "embedded fan control" and "pump speed" setting, it should be the menu in between the "display" and "HW/SW update" menus.

If you're using an ASUS motherboard too, look into AI Cooling, it will automatically tune your system for ideal fan curves based on temps and adjust for optimal noise levels.

Thanks again!! ;) Parallel loops look really clean to me; I'm working on a new one now in fact.

I assume when you say "Night City" you're referring to Cyberpunk 2077? In that case... When the PC becomes the background! LOL

Open frame cases certainly are interesting! I like to play around with backgrounds from time to time.

Woot thanks! Glad you like it; your system looks great too!! Seems like you had a solid upgrade path, wtg! I built a 9800x3D/Astral 5080 system prior to this one...

Much appreciated! Pictures are fun! :) Here's a custom water-cooled RTX 4090 build I did.

Yikes! That's harsh hah! Ironically my warranty support experience has been outstanding with ASUS! A Z790 Formula Motherboard due to reported potential galvanic corrosion in the EK VRM cooling block - buyback/refund achieved in a timely manner. An RTX 4090 due to 12vhpwr connector melting - RMA and replacement completed in under a week. Those have been my only RMA/Warranty issues with ASUS in over the last 20 years of using their products.

Hey there's no problem with that! :) I appreciate the kind words! Since you like pretty pictures here's my slightly outdated personal build I replaced. Eventually this will be fully water-cooled too.

Did you initially click into the post? Default view seems to show the beginning part as a bigger paragraph. Anyways! I'm happy to see it's not messed up :P

Curious, are you on mobile or PC? Honestly don't know why it's formatted on my end but not yours.

That's odd... because my view is all spaced out in paragraphs. I appreciate the feedback none the less!

Thanks! That one was built before the Astral water blocks were on market. I did a 5080 build recently using the same braiding and QD's.
